My hometown doesn't have a Waffle House, so this was my first experience. First of all, this is a small restaurant, so it fills... up quickly. Taxes are included in the already reasonable pricing, which you just don't see much. I had a pecan waffle, jalapenohash browns, sausage, and coffee. Everything was good, about on a par with, say, a Denny's. I have no complaints about thefood, but I've had better, so it didn't live up to the considerable hype. The star of the show here is the service. The waitstaff is really with it, getting orders in and refilling coffee quickly. They are also very friendly. Curiosity: satisfied. Read more
So I ate at the Waffle House in Galveston for the first time Monday around 6pm. Let me tell you how EXCELLENT my server Kristin... was and how she served my family! First off she directed me to a clean table immediately without wait time and met us withsilverware and quickly asked for what drinks we would like to have. She then within the first 5 minutes of us being there hadour orders taken and called to (chef which was amazing also) what we had asked for! She had our order out so quickly and withouterror! She was bright and energetic and made us feel at home! Even let our kids play songs on the jukebox in which she had paidcredits for to pass the few minutes we had to wait! This is the most gross restaurant I think we have ever eaten at. The uncleanliness was astonishing. When walking in you are... greeted by a trash can full of leftovers from bussing tables that sets open next to where you wait for a table. There wasdropped food EVERYWHERE! The number of flies in this place was akin to a biblical plague. From our vantage point next to thecooking line I could easily see loads of old food under the coolers and cooktops that did not appear to ever get cleaned. I?mcertain the flies are not coming from outside but hatching out from maggets living inside. The entire time we were there we didnot see a manager on duty. I asked for the manager and the staff appeared nervous and were asking if a manager was there.Someone went to the back to wake the manager who came out and asked if she could help us. I asked her if this was there normalcleanliness and she did not seem to know what I was concerned with. I pointed to all the food up under the coolers and all overthe floor everywhere and she stated they had been busy. I asked about the flies that we literally could not keep off us and shesaid that someone probably left the door open. She simply apologized and looked at us blankly. I felt like she and I were on twodifferent planes as far as expectations. This place is unsafe. It is not being inspected. There is NO WAY this place couldreasonable pass a health inspection. If you visit Galveston Island skip this restaurant and find a well managed restaurant wherecleanliness and health is a concern. This place is an absolute pig sty. I have never ever seen a restaurant with such a bad service. I was afraid to order or change my mind as the cooks and waiters... were arguing among themselves. They were refusing all to go orders. Screaming, not letting people seat down until they cleanthe table but they never did. No names tags. Questioning people about their place in line. Making people get up to seat otherpeople. No control on the check in list witch they had a notebook and a pencil but no body was working it not paying attentionto it. Refused to sell a cup of coffee to go to a person. No name tags on anyone. All employees were ganging up talking loudand disrespectful to clients. They were complaining about not a swearing work calls the next day. This location has verylimited choices of restaurants specially after 10:30pm. I chose to stay and eat not complaining but just making observations. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST unless you willing to test your patience. It was not that busy to give them in excuse. I wish Icould but I can?t. I sat and eat like a kindergartener quite and trying to be invisible. Finish eating with no refills walkedout without my sisters hamburger so I decided to go to the closest whataburger worse mistake ever like 30+ car line with peoplenot knowing what they were doing ???? pics below ?? Good food and friendly service. I stopped in late night for a quick meal. O ordered the steak and eggs plate, which was good.
We're from Vegas flew in late last night. And decided to eat at the waffle house for the first time. We got there about 3:00 am... and the two young ladies were polite, friendly, and very helpful. The food was amazing and the service was awesome. Thankyou!!!!! Read more
We stopped by for dinner Friday night while on our way to Bolivar. The ladies working here were absolutely amazing - at one... point the power went out on the whole block, but their appliances still worked so they were still able to cook. They all keptsuch upbeat and wonderful attitudes as they got us our meal and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was deliciousand the service was terrific! Read more
