My husband wanted breakfast, so we stopped in? Everything was delicious! Sam made the experience extra with his friendly service... and smile/ warm welcome! My husband enjoyed the briskets and gray dinner with sausage. Said his egg was cooked perfectly and thebiscuit was really good. Unexpectedly, you can get lunch all the time! So I was able to enjoy my last sea food meal atbreakfast! I highly recommend The Bourbon Street platter! Everything was perfect flavored with a large portion! Even the mostsimple item on the plate, the green beans has amazing flavor. The Étouffée was probably my favorite, with a bit of spice withthe nice creamy texture. My 3 shrimp wrapped in bacon were big fat shrimp with a nice bacon flavor. Yummy! Highly satisfied withthis place. My only tiny complaint was the vent hood/ air filtration system couldn?t quite keep up with the grill. You are in acloud of food aroma! You will leave smelling like that most delicious food! We look forward to our next visit here! Honestly, you should give Sam a raise?or at least let him know he got a shout out! Haha! Read more

It was good and fair prices. We had went to Katie's for a $40 fish just for them to give us a 7oz tiny filet, yet here at Gumbo... Diner, I get a double stacked burger with an egg for less than $15 and I'm full not left disappointed by the little portions fortoo much. Read more

Don't judge a book by its cover! Great Place! The Country Fried Steak was delicious. Light, crispity, mouthwatering gravy and... served with perfectly done mashed taters and piping hot Mac & Cheese. The Shrimp Platter was good. A bit over priced for 8shrimp, but delicious nonetheless. Our waiter was very welcoming and attentive. Philip, the manager, was extremely friendly.Giving us local advice and trip whole here on our stay in Galveston. Read more

Went there with friends for dinner. We sat on the largest booth on the corner. This was our first time trying gumbo. We ordered... seafood gumbo, shrimp platter with fries and sauce, and oyster platter with fries. The shrimp platter was genuinely good. Butthe problem occurred with the oyster in both gumbo and the platter. It was really bitter. We told our server about the problem, she offered another platter. But we were done. We ordered the beignets for the desserts. That was very tasty. In the end, ourserver gave us a complimentary banana bread pudding. And that was really yummy. I realized that I am not a gumbo fan. Butdefinitely a dessert fan. Loved both desserts. Read more

We went to Gumbo Diner over breakfast-lunch. We were the only ones there when we got there (~10:50) but it filled up as lunch... hour started. Sharlene, our waitress, had big RBF (but me too sister? so I don?t blame you one bit ????????) but was actuallyreally sweet and attentive. She even boxed our leftovers for us, which doesn?t happen at many fancy places even anymore! The artinside is super original and cute. We had the Garlic Toast, Country Fried Steak, and a small [actually VERY large] bowl ofGumbo. The toast was good, but could?ve used more cheese ???? I personally like Perkin?s Country Fried Steak better? but theirswasn?t bad at all! We hadn?t had Gumbo before so didn?t have anything to compare it too, but thought it was pretty goodtoo. Our biggest complaint was regarding whatever was going on with.. Corporate? Owners? Inspectors? ?we weren?t sure who itwas but there were 4-5 men walking in and out of the kitchen (which is open, so all of the guests can see in the kitchen, in thebar, around the tables? just watching everyone but not saying anything. I felt bad for the servers and cooks because it feltlike they were judging them HARD and just getting in their way. Doing whatever they were doing just made for quite a chaotic anddistracting dining experience when the restaurant is pretty tiny to begin with. Read more
