Reviews for Pirates Cove Restaurant and Dock Bar in Galesville, MD
A delightful experience was had today at the Pirates Cove Restaurant. We were teleported 30 + years back to our first date in... Panama City, Panama at a little restaurant on the water called Jimmy's just by the flavor of the mussels here at Pirates Cove. The mussels here have the perfect balance of wine, garlic and just a hint of tomato, simply superb. Megan our server wasexcellent , attentive and helpful. Vince the manager was great as well and thank you Sir for the kind gift. Our firstexperience here and it was perfect. We also had their Pirates Cove beer and is was delicious as well. For the main course mywife had the flounder and shrimp and I had the fish and chips. Everything was perfectly seasoned. A better experience we couldnot have had. Thank you for the beautiful lunch and we will be back again, again, and again! Read more
We love coming here when we visit from put of town! Awesome food, reasonably priced, great service and ambience...whether in the... main, cozy dining area or the beachy themed dock side. And the live music makes it perfect! Beautiful water views too, plenty ofparking. We may not be locals, but feel the friendly vibes each time we are here! Read more
Parking was a little hard. It seems out of the way but not that out of the way because the parking lot was packed and we almost... thought we had to go some place else, however I made a spot work. We opted to sit outside because it was such a nice day. Weordered the Oyster Rockefeller which was really good. Second time having it. Then we ordered the crab dip. It was prettygood. I've had better. I would not order again however if someone else ordered some and they offered I would partake. We bothgot the Seafood Trio. We we so full we ate half and had the other half for lunch. The shrimp was perfect. Not everyone cancook shrimp. The scallops were also good. It was my first time having red snapper and will not be my last. The rice wascooked to perfection. The view was amazing and the service was great. The atmosphere was laid back which I appreciate. Ihighly recommend Pirates Cove and will definitely be returning. Read more
Only the second time back and the food is really good. Service is spot on. They can get crowded we arrived on a Friday evening... at 6pm were seated within 15 minutes and had our food on the table all within an hour total time. We had the Oyster Rockefellerand the crab ball appetizers and they were great. My dinner was a Red Snapper with white rice and fresh mixed veggies. The wifehad the chicken Marsala with roasted potatoes and fresh mixed veggies. Key lime pie and sopapillas rounded out the desserts. Thebill came to 106 and some change for two. Would recommend for sure. And the views really couldn't get much better with the sunsetting on our backs. Read more
A step back in time that is well worth it! This was our favorite place when we lived in the area 25 years ago. So, we returned... for a nostalgic visit yesterday, July 20, and met bar tender Chase who was just delightful. We had our favorite Cream of Crabsoup, and it was even better than we remembered - a lot of great crab with a little cream stirred in and sherry on the side. Amazing! Had the crab cakes and they we equally amazing. Chase recommended a very nice white wine which was perfect for a hotday. And the atmosphere - what a view of the sailboat marina! We could have stayed all afternoon had our schedule permittedit. The menu looks to be much as we remembered it, so we will return much sooner next time. Go there! And ask for Chase towait on you! Had dinner on Monday around 6pm. Restaurant seemed empty, we were seated immediately. My husband ordered an adult beverage and I... ordered iced tea. The iced tea had to be brewed, no issue there, I waited. It came out about 10-15 minutes later, somewhat weakand warm. Figured, it was just made, next cup will be better. Refill was just as weak just not as warm. We ordered the crab dipas an appetizer. Now, my husband and I have spend the last 3 years patroning over 25 Restaurant and rating crab dip. We thoughtPirates Cove would be a winner. Not only were there zero lumps of crab meat, the dip was bland and didn't even taste like crab. The bread was good but not enough to cut the blandness of the dip. My husband ordered the Salmon entree, his salmon was dry andovercooked, but with decent flavor. His vegetables were limp lifeless and looked like they had been cooked before we evenordered. I ordered the lime chili shrimp. The shrimp were cooked nicely, had nice chili flavor but again was very bland wheneaten with the rice. Plus not a vegetable in sight, I was offered a side salad at extra cost. The kicker of the evening, themanager with the flower shirt came over and tried to clear my plate while there was still PLENTY of food on it and I was stillin the process of eating. She never asked if I was done or if I wanted a to-go container, she just came over and picked my plateup right in front of my face. Now, as a culinary professional of 22 years, I was dumbfounded that she was so rude, disrespectfuland didn't even seem to be apologetic when I interrupted her for a to-go container. She also never introduced herself or askedhow our meal was. My husband has wanted to try Pirates Cove for MONTHS and we have had thoughts of visiting for brunch. Aftersuch bland, boring food and management with such little education on basic Restaurant manners, we will most likely neverreturn. Our bill was $78 for the two of us ( 1 adult beverage, a shared appetizer, 2 entrees and a Read more
Pirates cove has some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. What an amazing burger! Fries were perfect! Crab cake was more... crab than cake, which is awesome! I dont usually like dessert, but couldn't resist the bread pudding! Great service and coolatmosphere. Even though the patio faces east, the sunset was beautiful! Can't recommend more, and will be back. Oh, and there'sa dinghy dock. As well as docking for larger boats. Read more
My wife and I have been coming here for years and its become our go to place for a late lunch, dinner, or drinks at the bar.... Chase, the bar tender is a recent addition who fits in perfectly. He is friendly, has a smile for everyone, and makes one of thebest margaritas in the area. Now I make them like he does at home too. You won't be disappointed. P.S. The owners, I forgettheir names, have several places and they are all excellent. Well done. Read more
