There are so many wonderful places to eat in Galena, but this was our favorite. We came here at least once a day, maybe twice to... stock up on desserts and pastries. Everything we had was heavenly, from the quiche to the frozen drinks to the coffee. If youonly eat at one place in Galena, make it this one. Read more

Excellent baked goods and meal options! My wife and I got the BVB Chicken Sandwich and the French Onion Soup (the soup rotates)... for dinner. Then we enjoyed a Chocolate Croissant for dessert. We loved all of those and would highly recommend them. Myfather-in-law got the Steak Sandwich, which we all tried but none of us really liked it. I think it had too much pesto. Read more

Taste good and in a nice vibe. Owners are nice. It?s a little bit crowded but overall we love it. My own suggestion is that it... would be better to use Sushi rice for the poke. Definitely will come back sometime. Read more

My mouth is watering while writing this review & I?m craving the watermelon goat cheese salad that I ate this past weekend at... Bread & Vine in Galena, IL , while I was on a girl?s trip. I very rarely write reviews, but after the impeccable service andamazing food & drink we consumed, I knew I had to share! Bread & Vine made me feel like I stepped into a small, unpretentiousrestaurant in Europe. The attention to detail, the quality of food, as well as the flexibility of the menu is truly top notch.I?m a vegetarian & was concerned that there wouldn?t be much on the menu, but boy, I was wrong! Everything was so delicious thatwe actually ate there three times during our trip to Galena. As I mentioned, I don?t eat meat. I saw a couple things on the menuthat seemed interesting, but contained meat. Our waiter, Nolan, who was paying close attention to our table, let me know thatthe chef could make accommodations for me & my diet. I decided to order the salmon quinoa instead of having the chef alteranything. In addition to the salmon quinoa & watermelon salad, I also ordered a coconut margarita & had the Lola bun fordessert. First, the salmon was perfectly seasoned & cooked, while the fluffy quinoa had a delicious, unforgettable flavor. Mycocktail was perfectly balanced - not too much tequila & not too ?coconutty?. The mixologist, Nash, even came by our table tomake sure our libations were as good as we had hoped. Oh! And that Lola bun? I thought I was in heaven! The hazelnut cream & thegooey sea salt caramel filling that was sandwiched between perfectly baked choux pastry brought me back to a bakery just outsideof Rouen, France that I had once visited. Though the meal had an European flair, the portions did not; they were definitelyAmerican serving sizes. It?s not often when you come across a restaurant that has both great food & great service, but is alsovery clean and friendly. They made me & my group of friends feel special. Bread & Vine has something on t Read more

Every bite was a delight. Vegetarian review here?my only critique is that the two vegetarian entree options kind of felt like... eating the same thing two different ways. The veggie flatbread and veggie sandwich were both delicious and quite similar flavorprofiles. Absolutely loved the truffle fries, and picking one dessert felt impossible! Cute atmosphere and great service. Read more

We are from Dubuque and drive to Galena almost every week because we are so addicted to Bread & Vine. The restaurant has an neat... fast-paced European vibe that works for a date night or even a much-deserved bite after a bike ride on the Galena Trails. Themenu is unlike anything in the area and has a perfect balance of creating unique plates while still offering something for everypalate -- it's hard to imagine someone wouldn't be able to find something they love! Some of our favorite items include TheParma, Steak Sandwich, Pear and Goat Cheese Salad, Truffle Fries, Pork Belly Tacos, and Churros. They also have an incrediblebar, espresso drinks, and pastry/dessert counter. We will continue returning, which is something to say given Galena'simpressive other dining options -- it's just hard to beat BVB! P.S. -- Shout-out to server Nash, who has been a friendly faceand the best provider of recommendations since our first visit. He always pops over to say "hi" during our visits and makes thetime special. Read more
