Moving from Cleveland, Ohio to Gainesville, Florida just two weeks ago - we decided to try out Waffle House on Newberry Rd in... Gainesville tonight for dinner, since we are new to the area. I'm glad we did because out of all the places we have tried -either dine in, carry out, or delivery. My family of four tried the hash browns plain, pecan waffle, chocolate chip waffle, andwe each had either an egg, cheese, and sausage biscuit, or an egg, cheese, and bacon biscuit. From the reviews I read, and themany times we drive by, I had mixed feelings about trying the place. We were all very impressed with the service. Our server wasvery friendly, quick, efficient, and kept our drinks full. Our food was delicious, and cooked to order. The atmosphere wasreally nice. Laughter, talking, music playing. When we left, the cook did ask if we enjoyed our meal, and of course, we saidyes! We will definitely be coming back! Read more
Stopped in at 11:30 pm. The place was not busy and a disaster. The women behind the counter was as rude as she could be and told... us no to go orders set over to the left side , the other side was not open . She proceeded to be very very rude to any customerswho came in. When we did get to order it was basically what do you want ? When our food came eggs overcooked and the bread burnt(see attached picture).. When we told her she said it was not her it was the cook . Told me I was rude , pretty amazing sinceshe was rude as she could be since we walked in. For someone who More than likely works on tips. I would assume she does notneed them. I normally don?t leave reviews but I was very upset. Walked in no greeting and all the tables and the bar top and food menus was... dirty the waitress didn?t start cleaning tables till a party of 8 walked in while I was taking pictures but still looked over meas if I wasn?t there. The cook was complaining about the customers saying they need to go home or to Perkins because he?s not inthe mood. Still didn?t get greeted or asked if I needed help. They only cleaned enough tables for the party of 8 (only 2 booths)and left everything else dirty. While in the middle of cooking the cook walks away. The cook was very rude to one of theemployees as well. Finally got my order took after being there for at least 25 to 20 minutes. And finally got my maybe 15minutes later. I have actually been to that same waffle house twice this week. The service the 1st time was lacking and the food was... terrible. Sent the eggs back and the cook still didn't get close I know over medium is the toughest egg to fix, so I have togive this new guy a break. The waittress was so busy talking to the only other people in the place, the cook brought us ourfood. The 2nd time everything was fantastic. The eggs were perfect, the waffle was perfect, The only complaint was the room wastoo cold. And in Florida that's not really a complaint is it. Read more
