The girlfriend took me to this place. I would have never found it on my own. It's tucked away off the beaten trail. Nice small... and quaint. The sushi was fantastic. Our server was extremely nice and attentive. It wasn't a big deal but the only piece ofadvice I would have is to keep the employees quiet about their complaints. We could overhear other servers (not ours)complaining about customers wanting to sit outside or some other bit. Read more
We enjoy coming to Volcanic Sushi because they have provided us with good service and tasty food while also allowing us to enjoy... the outdoor seating. They have a nice outdoor area, and the staff do a good job bringing appetizers early before your maincourse, as well as keeping on top of drinks. There are a lot of choices for sushi in the Gainesville area, but Volcanic Sushidoes well to make a good name for itself. I recommend this place to others, and we have even enjoyed several dinners here withfriends, and I'm sure we'll enjoy more to come! --------------------------- Update for 10 August 2022, Wednesday We went herewith friends and family. It was a good place to share dinner with family from out of the area. A quiet and nice place for aweekday evening dinner. My only gripe was that the bugs outside were very persistent. But this is not fault of the restaurant,more so the season. Still, the food was delicious, and I most liked the John I sushi roll I had today. It was the tinfoil cookedsushi roll in the picture. Today I'd give the service a rating of 4 star, which is good but not great. But I'm sure it couldhave been other factors such as low staff. The service was friendly and accommodating, although a few cups ran dry, and thecheck took a while to come out as we sat outside and the bugs got worse. One of my favorite sushi places with a variety of non-sushi options. Caroline bites are our favorite appetizer, give them a... shot! They also have an outdoor (covered) eating area. We eat here fairly often since they moved to their new location. Everytime we've gone to eat in the patio area we've had a wonderful experience and we recommend it to the everyone! Read more
If you know me, you know I adore Volcanic Sushi and Sake. However, my boyfriend and I have always gone to the other location.... But we decided to take a stab at this one. The location is in the cutest plaza and has a great ambiance with indoor and outdoorseating. We both opted for the lunch combos, a GREAT bang for your buck. I got the combo #5, which was 13 or so dollars for 3rolls, 6 pieces each (pictured). A normal roll will be costing around the same amount depending on your choice, so the lunchcombos, while limited roll options, are the way to go. We got our green tea cheesecake to go this time. Amazing food, poor service. We went at lunch on a Friday. While they had about 50% of tables full, it was not a packed house. We... had 2 servers - one who was clearly new and confused, another who was more experienced but didn't seem to care. We had our orderquestioned by a 2nd server for some reason (100% on-menu items as they come), and the wheels really came off the bus when wewanted to leave. I had to ask both servers for a box, 10 minutes apart. Then the newer one took my card for the check,disappeared for an inordinate about of time, and then came back with no pen and just did a drop and run, so it was another 5minutes of waiting to flag him down again for a pen. Thankfully the food was amazing. Best Yellowtail I have had in 23 years ofeating sushi. Beautiful presentation too. Makes me glad you can tip the sushi chefs separately. 5 star food. 1 star service. I ordered teriyaki tofu and they literally gave us an uncooked block of tofu. It might have been seared for a few seconds. We... asked for it to be crispy..The vegetables are clearly frozen and they gave us a baby portion. Not quite sure who expects us toeat uncooked tofu but that was gross. We had to cook the tofu ourselves in order to eat it. I want a refund. Read more
Great outside meal. Rolls were amazing and they customize them if you want (I switched out salmon for tuna). Pleasant staff.... Felt terrible for manger when person in table in front was terribly rude. But a few tables told her she was so respectful evenwhen he didn’t deserve it.
