Reviews for Public & General Restaurant in Gainesville, FL
This spot is a hidden gem. The live music out on their patio on Tuesdays nights are so much fun, and it's got a casual, rustic... atmosphere. But what lands it five stars is the food. I have yet to try a meal here that I'm lukewarm about. In particular, Theyhave the best brisket sandwich in town. This was the most delicious brisket meal I've had in the thirty years I've spent on thisplanet. Absolutely decadent and heavenly. You have the option to dip it in a broth-based sauce. I will be back for thissandwich, and I'm already craving another. Thanks Caine for the great service! Read more

Brisket hash was flavorful and cook perfectly. Burger was good flavor . Dog friendly place. You have to order from inside and... they will serve the food. Big parking lot. Read more
We went for a brunch/lunch and the menu was pretty limited, but that was expected since it seems more like a bar/dinner place.... What we did get was AMAZING, I didn't know that you could make food taste so good!!! I forced myself to make room for dessertand I finished a whole slice of cheesecake because it was that good!! My first time. A little confusing to get in off NE 16th Ave. Must use front door. Grab a menu at the bar and order. Yes, a bar... with lots of drink options. Booths and tables and lots of outside seating. Got brisket and fries. Both were good. Came outquick. Huge sandwich. No wait staff. Interesting place. Plenty of parking. Will definitely be back to try dinner. Cool vibe! Read more
This is by far our favorite place while in Gainesville. Even my 91 year old mother enjoyed their old style burgers. We enjoyed... both the freshness of the soup and salad. They also have a great beer selection which was awesome. The service was excellentand top notch. We hope to be back soon! Keep up the great service and fresh products. Read more
We went there around 1535, and it was a very chill/relaxed atmosphere. Order at the bar, grab your NA drinks at the cooler in... the front. Service was decent, albeit busy. Likely preparing for their dinner rush. The fried green tomato sandwich was perfectwith the whipped goat cheese. Could have used a little hot ???? to make it pop, but it was fresh fromage--so that is cool. Thepork Verde was tasty and had a good amount of heat. I would have used candied jalapenos instead of pickled, but it was goodnonetheless. Kids loved the fries! And their beers-on-tap selection is killer. Read more
