I hadn't been to Smithfield in a while. Things have definitely changed. There's more breading than chicken now and it's... overwhelming and way too thick. It's different in a bad way, and it falls right off the chicken. The potato salad isridiculously, overly sweet and very watery/soup-like. Fries soggy and the stew doesn't taste the same. We ordered through the drive thru today and when we receieved our order, first we had to remind them we had upsized our drinks.... We were on our way and opening our bag realized we had potato salad instead of french fries ordered. The BBQ sandwich was superdry and tough and was not chopped, instead it was shredded in long strings which made it very difficult to eat. The is the firstbad experience we've had, but it's worth management knowing to at least have a conversation with employees to insureSmithfield's Chicken 'N BBQ continue to provide quality food and good customer service. I have been coming here since 2015 when my husband then bf took me out once the manager I cannot recall his name ( Afroamerican)... is sooo sweet and so nice he remembers us from when we used to come in 2015 now few years later and 2 kids later we still comeand we still see this lovely man. great customer service. 5 stars! here is my honest review 1. 5 stars for representation of thefood 2. 5 stars for atmosphere , customer service and cleanliness 3. I?ve tried to give this place a chance three times and tonight was my strike three. First time I ordered from here my food... tasted like it was sitting there for awhile, second time my bf got a BBQ sandwich and it made his stomach really sick. Tonightmy mom and I got a combination plate with the chicken and our chicken was spoiled it smelled and tasted bad, we did not eat itand to me it was pointless going back so I will no longer be eating here. Something at this location has changed. We had a family meal many weeks back, the bbq was so hot with seasoning, it was not... edible. A few nights back, chose to have chicken with fixings, the potato salad was way too wet and the slaw was the same. Hushpuppies order had more than half of them stuck to each other. The to-go bbq sauce is a welcome site. Someone will begetting a phone call soon. Update: Called manager and explained the meal , he was most understanding and offered a replacement. Read more
