The food was good, the coffee was excellent! They were very busy. I want to try their mole amarillo with hongos next time.
This place is a little hidden in a very small plaza. You will need slow down a lot to find this place. The place is clean and... very Ma&Pa. I can see many locals coming in & out. My friend and I came here for dinner. It wasn't too busy and we both orderedblack mole & tamale. I was excited to try it because I saw Mark Weins had tried authentic Black Mole in Oaxaca and it lookedamazing. The mole is very dark and it tasted very rich & tasty. I added a little salsa on top and it was even better. The tamalewasn't bad. The corn and meat inside was fresh and moist. We also tried the Chilacayota drink and it was refreshing & not toosweet. They also serve hand made tortillas which is always a bonus. Read more
The Enchiladas Campesinas were slathered in their mild, flavorful tomatillo sauce. Being raised in SoCali and used to our style... of food, these flavors were surprising. The sides were filling, but the plate didn't leave you with any "heavy" feeling. Coolsmall place with a laid back local feel. The pic of my half demolished plate shows how much I enjoyed it. The plate was empty atthe end of the meal. Read more
Very little food for the money. Has good flavor but so stingy they used Asian rice instead of Mexican rice for the mole. One... small piece of chicken. Tlayuda especial had a thin strip of cesina they really cheaped out for this dish. No lechuga! At leastcharge 8 or 9 not $14!!! Costs $4.50 usd in México. Overall it's really over hyped I consider going to Oaxaca to eat thefood(la abuelita) VS here as most restaurants suck for portions. Read more
Great Oaxaca Food spot!! My 1st time in here and I was overwhelmed a bit with the huge selection of food plate options. Place is... quite small but believe me brother when I say the food is very tasty! The ordering process is the usual order your drink, getchips, & spicy salsa(chile de arbol salsa), & wait for your food. I ordered the Fried Tasano with onions plate with rice, beans, and handmade torillas alongside with a pineapple drink DELISH!!! I also liked the vibe I got from the table cloths, painting onthe wall, and Oaxaca Style music made me feel in a safe at home or family gathering atmosphere! Nice touch, they had an elderlyman playing his guitar and singing when I came in. Very kind woman that took my order. Delicious food! Great place for big orsmall crowds, family, friends..etc. They also have a Panaderia (mexican sweet bread), selection of ice cream, & choice to buymeat, chicharon, handmade tortilla like a supermarket!! Unbelievable!! Definitely coming back here for 2nds! Read more
