I frequented this location over the past summer, but not as much as it's gotten colder in the area. However, this past Saturday,... I stopped in to grab an Undertow as it's a menu item. As soon as I walked in, it was chaos; some kind of shower or party took upmost of the shop physically and audibly. No problem, that happens. As I walked to the counter, I could tell that the twoemployees there were being assisted by what looked to be two middle-aged men who were clearly doing what they could to help buthad no business behind the counter. It seemed like they were all flustered. The moment I ordered my drink, I could see theconfusion on the face of the gentleman at the register. Again, no problem, it was clear that he wasn't a barista or regularstaff, so I tried to help him by listing the three components of the drink. When I got to the syrup portion, I told him that"classic syrup is fine" to keep it simple for him (I usually order vanilla, but again, trying to help with the most basicingredient). As soon as I said this, one of the two actual baristas, a young woman with multiple nose rings and even moreattitude, interrupted to tell me that they "don't have sugar water for you." I was surprised because she had no business in ourconversation, and even if she intended to be helpful, her attitude and condescension were evident. A fun exchange between thetwo of us ensued, covering what syrup is, whether they carried any syrup at all (they do), etc.; the gentleman at the register(who I assume is some form of management or owner) standing by, saying absolutely nothing. We finally settled on using anothersyrup flavor. Still, by then, my goal of making it easier on them had failed, replaced by a semi-contentious exchange withsomeone who had a point to prove. Love this place, their coffee is really good and the space is very cozy and dog friendly.
Finally a real coffee shop near where I live so I don't have to go to Summer Moon farther down the street (which is basically... Starbucks on steroids). I have only gotten coffee from here before and not any food, so cannot comment on the latter. The formerhowever, is excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and they actually roast beans ON-SITE! That alone tells you they know whatthey're doing. I am glad they don't only carry beans from Onyx anymore since Onyx charges way too much for their product. I havetried espressos from here as well as pour overs and they've been tasty. Last few visits I also grabbed their in-house roastedbeans (Ethiopia, Costa Rica) and both were well priced and perfectly roasted. If you love coffee, do not miss this joint! Read more
Karmic Grounds is a must visit for anyone in the downtown Frisco area. Their coffee is fantastic, the staff is amazing and their... is great seating inside. I just wish they had a bigger patio.
