My husband and I visited this restaurant in September while on vacation. We based our visit on the ratings. The food was decent.... Because of a shortage of help the setup for ordering was order at the register and they will bring it out. We understandshortages. My husband ordered crab soup. Lots of broth maybe one piece of crab. This is where the problems started. He went tothe register and said I paid a lot for this and feel there should have been more than just a piece of crab and broth. I wouldlike to talk to a manager. He was told by a very snippy young lady that the manager would do nothing. He pressed the issue untilthe manager was called. The person at the register was not friendly, helpful or nice. The manager came out and said - do youknow how much crab costs?! Umm you offered it and you cut costs by just giving broth? Very poor way of handling the situation. She eventually gave him more soup to go. I rated this low because of the way this was handled, the lack of ability to handle acustomer concern/problem. Everyone is short staffed. Everyone is experiencing supply shortages. That is NO excuse to treat yourcustomers poorly. Read more

Beautiful views, so friendly, and everything we tried was incredibly delicious. Favorites were the crab stuffed mushrooms,... fried scallops, the crab cake, the crab bisque, and the fried oysters. This is our favorite! Read more

The best food on Hatteras Island. The seafood was perfectly prepared and the best hushpuppies ever. They have perfected handling... of short staffing. Ordering at the register allows the lone server the ability to get food out as fast as it's prepared. Thecashier/bartender was wearing many hats and helping with drink refills. I highly recommend, it is worth any wait. Read more

The Hatteras chowder was not good like it used to be. Almost all celery and potatoes, and a very small bowl for $13. Two bowls... of soup, a salad and a so-so crabcake sandwich took over an hour and was $65. Staff is very friendly, will return again nexttime and hope the quality improves to where it used to be. I don't know if this review is appropriate but I have to leave it anyway. For many years I vacationed in Frisco North Carolina.... I would bring my parents ,God rest their souls ,children and first wife yes that has changed haha. I am planning another trip, with the love of my life to Frisco. We never did like the carnival atmosphere and I still don't. I love the natural beauty ofthe outer banks. We didn't eat out a lot we bought fresh seafood off the dock and cooked it. And we would always go at leastcatch some speckled trout with Rick Scarborough, an island native and lifelong fisherman.I hope Rick is still around and stillfishing. This place used to be ran by two brothers and they inherited it from their parents I believe. They were very friendlyvery entertaining one of them would always do magic tricks for my children which now are in their 30s. I hope they are stillaround and doing well. This is the only place that we would go out and eat at. I've never had anything less than a superb mealhere. I mean these guys grew up catching preparing cooking and eating seafood they knew what they were doing! They had a greatHatteras style clam chowder and they had a oyster stew that was to die for lunch. The one dish that sticks out in my mind and Ihave been fantasizing about this for years, is this flounder stuffed with crab imperial I have traveled and lived all over theworld I have never had anything like it. I hope this review finds this family well I hope to see them soon I am 57 years old andreally not in good health I don't know how much longer I'll be around. I hope long enough to make it back to Frisco and to eatat The quarterdeck restaurant peace be with everyone. Read more

We were starving after a long day of sightseeing and skipping lunch. This restaurant was one of the few still open this time of... year, so I?m sure they were booked up for later, but they provided a table for us. Wonderful friendly server, (who was coveringthe entire dining room) and absolutely delicious food. We did the seafood combo. Oysters, shrimp and fresh flounder ( notpictured). For a starter we had the crab stuffed mushrooms- SO good. Their hush puppies are also wonderful. And bonus- very goodcoffee! We?d definitely go back. Read more
