Reviews for The Rouxpour - Sugar Land in Friendswood, TX
I finally stopped in here this evening on my monthly self-care afternoon near Baybrook. My delay in coming here was mostly due... to skepticism: I’ve been underwhelmed by most of the Cajun/Creole food in town. But I had a craving so today was the day.Having apparently slipped in throughout the side door, it took a few minutes before I was noticed by staff. But that was okaybecause I was taking in the atmosphere. At around 4:45pm the bar was empty so I happily sat there. I ordered a bourbon oldfashioned and a bowl of seafood gumbo (pictured). The gumbo was exactly what I hoped for in flavor and freshness, heartysausage, perfectly cooked shrimp and dewy bits of crabmeat throughout. For the old fashioned, I tried it with Milam & Greene Ryeand was so delighted with the flavors and story of this local woman owned distillery that I decided to try some more of theirbourbon. I had an ounce each of the Castle Hill Series and Single Barrel (see photos). The Castle Hill was honestly the bestbourbon I’ve ever had, heavy on cherry notes and with an extreme smoothness that belied its 55 proof. The single barrel camethrough heavy on banana scent and would’ve gone great with my bananas foster if I had waited to drink it. That dessert(pictured) was heavenly and the kitchen was able to make it gluten free for me. (Note: they have a whole gluten free menuthat’s much more than boring salads! See photo.) The bartender, James, was highly knowledgeable and made wonderfulrecommendations. He showed me the most extensive bourbon list I’ve EVER seen, including options for making one’s ownflights. He also gave me some tastes of other bourbon. It will be lovely to sip my way around this menu on subsequent visits! Ishould also mention that the other customers were friendly, the restrooms were spotless, and I didn’t feel judged in thereeven though at 38, dressing like a mature adult human was/is NOT a feature of my self-care days. It seems to be acome-as-you-are place, though I imagin Read more
I love this place but just realized the happy hour is trash. Which is why its getting 4 stars. My cousins wanted to come here... for happy hour and its nothing to get excited about. The drinks is only a $1 off and the food is like $2-3 off. Not worth thedrive for happy hour if you ask me. Food is amazing though. Just come regular time. I wish the happy was better. Read more
A new place on the map. The Rouxpour. If you don't like spicy this isn't the place for you. the gumbo with chicken and sausage... is a nose watering spice but delicious it does have more juice then food. Thr red bean and rice is well balanced but also had akick of heart burn brewing. My daughter got the mac and cheese it was creamy cheesy and not over powering. She ate the beans andrice I at the mac lol. For desert we ate cheese cake. The creme burle was not as expected it was not like a custard more like awatery puddling. But it is a beautiful experience. But not a place to bring babies due to the loud drinking customers. Read more

Food was good; service and oysters were amazing. Prices are a little higher than your normal cajun restaurant, but it is... definitely worth it. Especially on special occasions and oysters cravings ???? Read more
I wasn't sure what to expect when I found this place online. The reviews drew me in and I'm glad it did. The food was fantastic... as well as the service. If I didn't have to drive all the way to Houston, TX from GA to enjoy the food I'd try everything onthe menu. Everything we ordered was amazing, the food, drinks, and desserts were great. Read more
