We sat upstairs at the bar. The atmosphere was very eclectic and elegant. The bartender was very busy so it was difficult to... order and receive items in a timely manner. We enjoyed our drinks and meals. Were they worth the price? I don't think so. Thetater tot appetizer was the best part of the meal. The crab dip I ordered as my meal was just OK. I've made better crab dip athome, honestly. We might come here before an event for drinks again, but that's about it. Read more

The food was good and the cocktails too. Really good seating area inside and outside and you can book the upstairs if you are a... big party. If you like bourbon then definitely try the cocktail - "it's about time" and thank me later. For the appetizer if youwant then try Mac & cheese - delicious ???? Read more

Food here is good, drinks are very hit or miss. The upstairs cocktail lounge that's only open a couple days a week is an awesome... atmosphere that's definitely worth checking out when possible. They have limited outdoor seating, but beware that there willoccasionally be homeless people fighting outside the restaurant so I wouldn't necessarily eat outside unless you're willing todeal with that. Took the boyfriend to Frederick for the first time and wanted to find a great brunch spot. The reviews pointed me here and he... was sold as soon as he saw the Montreal Breakfast on the menu the night before. We arrived here around 11:45 a.m., and therewas already a wait after they opened at 11:00. That told me that it was well worth the wait. There is a beautiful park rightthere and took a walk near the water. We ended up waiting for about 45 minutes but it seemed like it calmed down a little bitafter we were seated. Our server was super friendly and playful, which we enjoyed (Khol, sorry if spelled wrong) and we alreadyknew what we wanted to eat since we had browsed the menu the night before. Our food came out faster than any food that we'veeaten in restaurants in years. I think it was about 8 minutes tops. We were all surprised, but I guess we caught them while thekitchen was a little bit slow after the first rush. The presentation of the food was in itself fantastic but we were bothreally happy with our choices. His Montreal Breakfast was his favorite poutine with egg on top and meat, that was closer tocorned beef, but the portion size was insane! It was fun watching him eat his meat spaghetti we called it. ????. As the onewith the sweet tooth I had to get the fruity pebbles stuffed French Toast. I have had some really bad French toast lately andthis was light-years the best in ages. It was cooked perfectly, sweet, a tiny bit crispy but also chewy, syrup was perfect. Ireally enjoyed the whipped topping with cereal on top, the cream in the middle was a little too much for me, but it was stilldelicious. Next time I may just ask for it unstuffed. For $40 for that meal, including unsweet tea, was a deal! Although welive further south, we will definitely be back next time we're in town! Highly highly recommend. Read more

Very good well balanced food that is tastefully presented, the ingredients were quality and the taste was excellent. I loved the... decor and atmosphere inside, it's laid back but has energy. The service was friendly and not over bearing. Also the location isgreat. I'll be going back, this is another Frederick favorite of mine now. Read more

As a self proclaimed foodie and home chef that hails from Portland OR, I was extremely excited to visit Hootch and Banter. From... its rustic decor, to its contemporary American cuisine or locally sourced, in house made items, it felt like the closest thingto home. Unfortunately it really missed the mark for us. Part of evaluating a meal is your environment and we were sat, fordinner, in the bar area. Im not opposed to this but it was very tight booth seating, almost as if we were at a communal tableright next to other patrons. It lacked the intimacy we wanted for a celebratory birthday dinner, instead feeling like we werethere for happy hour. Maybe Covid has ruined me for eating out because everything but our service felt average at best. Theservice was great, our server was very attentive and helpful, even as it grew busier. The food however, a sea bass entree, marinated hanger steak with pork belly (pictured) and cheese steak sandwich were pretty enough but not worth the money. My steakwas very chewy like it was not cut against the grain and under seasoned. The best thing I ate was the pork belly but when itsthe complementary item to your steak and after your drinks looking at our bill is $200 I would have preferred to stay home andmake myself a porcetta for much cheaper. I?ve been here twice now and have loved it both times, despite how busy it was on both Saturday nights! We absolutely loved... every dish. Everyone left satisfied with full bellies. The fish and chips are amazing. They make some of my most favorite freshcut fries. I had the chicken dish and it was SO GOOD I could not finish it but I wanted to haha. My husband got the ny stripwith pork and that was amazing as well. One of my most favorite restaurants in Frederick! ???? Read more

This is my first time to dine in this restaurant due to a family member's birthday. It's a Sunday brunch time, the restaurant... was packed yet well managed no matter one chose to dine in the bar or inside or outside. Food is tasty and colorful which isexceed my expectation. The service is excellent; in addition, everyone is happy and willing to help and genuinely friendly. Webrought a birthday cake, the lead lady (maybe the owner) in the restaurant cut it nicely for us. This birthday meal is indeedmemorable. Highly recommend! Read more
