CAN IT BE A TRUE ITALIAN RESTAURANT and NOT SERVE TRIPE? Well my personal view says no! In the early days, tripe was a staple in... Italian family's. The very few restaurants that make tripe for their customers carry on the TRADITION of real Italian homecooking, the old fashioned way! I love pizza, Italian cooking, and I especially love tripe if it's cooked the right way. I cancount on my fingers the amount of restaurants on Long Island that serve it. Living in the area for over 50+ years, today I triedCarmela's food for the very first time. I called in an order for home delivery via Slice. I ordered Sicilian Pizza, baked clams,Calamari with linguini, and of course Carmela's TRIPE dish! I was so upset with myself that I waited so long, to try Carmela'scooking! The food was so fresh tasting and delicious, I could not stop eating. My wife and I were fighting for the last piece oftripe! The pizza was excellent and so was the Baked clams, the Calamari and linguini as well. Carmela, we came for your 50Anniversary! Food was excellent. Service was non existent. We were the only table (2 persons) in the restaurant .Was greeted and seated ok.... Ordered drinks ok ordered app and entre ok I had to go into the back of the restaurant to ask our server to the table to get asecond drink App was good. Never was checked on after plate on table. Our waiter was the manager. Told him about the lack ofservice. No remorse or remedy. At exit ...as I was explaining my displeasure...a woman told me she was one of the owners...Noremorse or remedy offered. Check was nearly 100 dollars for two dinners. I will not be back. Went there for a special karaoke Sunday night. Waitresses were so nice and friendly. Food was delicious. Amateur karaoke singers... were unbelievable especially the big guy who sang Elvis from Atlantic City, Jimmy?s son (Billy Idol) and the guy dressed inblack who sang 50?s and 60?s. Tried to keep up. Will be back again to drink, eat, sing and laugh. Were there really a recordproducer and talent agent in the audience? We will never know.???? Read more

It was my first time going to this restaurant- we came to this restaurant with my son?s scout troop (group of about 20 people). ... They were very flexible and understanding. They opened about 30 minutes earlier than their normal operation hours for us toaccommodate our schedule. Their pizzas were fresh and yummy. The employees were super friendly and helpful. It's been a few years, but it was a night out with a group for dinner and some entertainment with Sal Manzo. Music a bit loud, ... good atmosphere, food was good. Unfortunately, poor service, short of staff. It took a long time for someone to finally take ourorder, and then waited forever for our dinner. Group of 6, and only 4 dinners finally came out. Two other people in our partywaited almost 20 more minutes for theirs...???? When it was time to leave, waiter was nowhere to be found. Waited at leastanother 20 minutes to get the check so we could leave. I don't think we will be going back. Read more
