Delicious food and the staff were very friendly
Mastaro is probably has my vote for the best sushi in Fort St. John. The rolls are made fresh, they are not cold and hard. The... ingredients and fish are fresh. I like their nigiri. The wasabi is in the middle of the nigiri between the rice and fish as itshould have. Some places in FSJ do not put wasabi with their nigiri...maybe because the folks here don't prefer it. But I preferit. The server who took my order (male, young, no accent) Messed up and wrote "hotakegai" on the itemized receipt. Which is NOTWHAT I GOT. I asked for scallop but I got surf clam (Hokkigai) instead. The rice and rolls fall apart easily and are not wellpacked together. But still that isn't a big deal given the quality of the rolls compared to other sushi places IN TOWN. Wellseasoned. Good chef and family owned restaurant. Great job overall. Read more

The spicy shrimp gyozas where very good. Would recommend them.
Food was not bad, but not consistent. Have been here four times. Different menu items were good each time. Price is very high... for the inconsistency of quality. Seared tuna is done properly one visit and poached the next. Nigiri is fresh one visit andsoft the next. Rice is plump one visit and paste the next. Price is always high. Recently the server forgot to place two ofthe ordered dishes and one of our party left hungry having not eaten. Had to phone the restaurant phone to get our bill broughtto our table after asking for it 20-25 minutes earlier. This was our very last visit. Read more
