Reviews for Lakeside Grille in Flintstone, MD
After reading the reviews we were, naturally, a bit apprehensive. Nevertheless we decided dining on the property with a lakeside... view was worth the risk. Our server Sherry (who was excellent) helped us to navigate through the menu. The result: a perfectlyfine dinner (we had entrees and sides only). Yes..prices are on the high side which is far from unusual at a resort. Theyshouldn't come as a surprise as they are listed with the menu on their website and on the monitor by the restaurant displayingthe menu for the 3 meals. In summary...fear not and enjoy the view. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious! I can't imagine how anyone could give this... place a 1 star review, unless they recently hired a new chef. The prices are high, but the portions were so generous that wetook home enough for a 2nd dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the buttered rolls, lobster bisque, wedge salad, pork chop with cheesygrits, braised beef with mushrooms and pasta, and chocolate lover's cake. It's off the beaten path if you are just travelingthrough Maryland, but we will definitely stop here again! Read more
Rocky Gap has been a favorite destination spot for my fiancé and I, since we first visited several years ago. The resort and... property itself is beautiful, and the lake views from the restaurant are amazing. However, our main complaint has always beenwith the quality of food available here, especially since there aren't really any other places to eat nearby if you are stayingon property. After our most recent experience, we've decided to forego any future visits (we want to be able to eat where westay, and we just can't justify eating at this place anymore). To be fair, the food on our prior visit was good--we were verypleasantly surprised. So when we recently decided to book another visit, we anticipated the same quality. Nope. We ate at theLakeside Grille twice, once at 4pm (dinner menu) and again at 9pm. For "lunch", I ordered the Bucatini. Now, they had justopened for dinner (we were literally the first people seated), so you would think the pasta would be fresh. When it came out,the pasta tasted old, and there was no remnant of the spicy tomato sauce; it was as though they had just boiled tomatoes andmixed them in with the pasta, and there was no seasoning at all. Cost $37. For dinner, they were out of baked potatoes, so wehad to order different sides. The mac and cheese was NOT creamy or baked with bread crumbs...it was dry and tasted like it hadsat underneath a heat lamp for awhile. My fiancé's filet came out well done instead of medium, took forever for a replacementto come out, and even then it was overcooked--again--and didn't even look like the same cut of meat. We were there over an hourand a half, most of our time spent waiting on literally everything (our server barely came by). The cost of the food, incomparison to what you get (and the quality) is grossly overpriced. Not fine dining in any way, shape, or form. Severelydisappointing, as this place could be amazing. The 3 stars are for the beautiful restaurant/view, and the waiter Chris who was AMAZING. The food WAYYYYYY over priced. That was... the most flavorless burger Ive ever had in my life. Mac and cheese was awesome but for a $30 terrible burger, I wont beback...not a seafood fan. Read more
The atmosphere at Lakeside Grille is stunning. Who doesn't love a view of the lake while enjoying a good meal. We started with... appetizers: Shrimp cocktail $19 for 4 extra large shrimp cooked Maryland style and served on a bed of ice with cocktail sauce e& lemon wedge. Shrimp were good, could have been a tad more tender but the overall flavor profile did not disappoint. Crispypork belly & sausage $15 was a delightful surprise. Melt in your mouth pork belly cubes topped with a spicy sausage, all tossedin a house BBQ sauce. A must try! Dinner is ordered ala-cart, hubby had the Chicken schnitzel $32 without the watercress. Thethin pounded chicken is a spinoff of the traditional pork dish yet the fried egg and lemon herb sauce took it to another level.Worth a try! A bowl of French onion soup $10 along with a wedge salad $12 are two items to stay away from. The soup was thin andlacked the rich depth of flavor French onion soup is known for. The wedge salad, a healthy alternative to the other menu items, was fine. Nothing exciting there. In all, our bill for the above items plus two bar drinks came to a little over &100. Giftcards saved us $60 resulting in the actual value of the food served. Overall Plus: Atmosphere, on property location, attentivewait staff Con: highly over priced for quality and quality of food served. Read more
Let me start by saying as you can observe the disappointment in my face in the photo below. I hate to give this review because... the resort and the restaurant was a very lovely and it was a easy on the eye establishment, my breakfast was awesome, but myconcern was my dinner ???? I ordered the braised short ribs pasta and it was anything but that. The pasta was dry covered in somuch parsley it took hours to get the taste out of mouth, the mushrooms did not complement the dish well at all, next nothingwas braised about that meat I was so disappointed and I?m writing this review in hopes that it reaches the person in charge ofremoving that dish from the menu immediately. It is not a well thought out dish nothing goes together. Other than that greatplace very beautiful and I?d definitely return for breakfast and lunch, but not too sure about dinner ???? Please just do awaywith that dish ???? Read more
Aug 1 2021. We went down from our room to eat at 8:10 and had a half hour wait. Enjoyed the firepits outside and were seated... right away after we got a text to return at 8:45. Not sure why there was a wait, as there were only a couple tablesoccupied...guessing some of the servers had been cut? The decor is very nice, seemed recently redone. Modern and trendy. Ourwaitress was also very nice and prompt, but was a tiny bit MIA towards the end, as she was also cleaning and prepping fortomorrow. (We were the last table seated, the restaurant was closed when we left, we had to duck under the rope to leave at10pm) So, on to food. This seems like it should be an upscale restaurant...and I can tell it is striving to be, but the food isreally not worth the price. The bread service was odd -- cinnamon butter on rolls for dinner? The salmon was fine, the wedgesalad with steak was not good, and I've had a better baked potato at outback. Our server recommended the bread pudding, and thatwas absolutely the highlight of the meal...warm and tasty. The chocolate cake was only meh. I wish I could say better, I trulywant to, as it is a pretty atmosphere and our service was good, but I found the food better over at Signature's by the pro shop, especially for the price. Read more
My husband and I stayed at Rocky Gap resort last night and had a reservation at Lakeside Grille. We were both very impressed. ... The staff was friendly and prompt. I got the 6" filet with mashed potatoes and roasted cauliflower. Absolutely delicious. Hubby had a strip steak and was equally impressed. Too full for dessert! Read more
