Every time my boyfriend and I come we?re always waited on by Teresa and Michael and have the best experience ever!!! They are... the real definition of a dynamic duo. But aside from the service being amazing the food always being perfect, I?ve never had onecomplaint coming here or ordering carry out. Disappointed in my experience here. Friendly waitress, decent food, but the management and ownership make this a bar I will... never visit again. They are a self proclaimed sports bar, where cheering for your team is a cause for verbal berating by theowner. I am a firm believer that if you own any business you should never yell at your patrons. I am also a firm believer thatif you own a sports bar the atmosphere should be lively. If I wanted to watch sports in silence I would have gone to thelibrary. I am also in disbelief that after seeing other reviews stating the same thing the owner is claiming it is not true.That the reviewer is trying to harm small businesses. I would love to see the owners of this establishment take responsibilityfor their behavior. I know some people on the internet troll and write fake reviews, but at a certain point if multiple peopleare claiming something about you, maybe you are the problem. I had high hopes for this bar. Really bummed it wasn't what theyclaim to be. EDIT: I am also disappointed in the owners unprofessional response. I would have considered changing my viewsabout the awful Management and ownership of this establishment but it is very clear that someone who responds to reviews in thiswas has minimal experience in customer service. Went for th first time Saturday of 2022 Labor day weekend (yesterday). A group of 8 sat outside. The food was very fresh and... tasty but the service was like precovid, meaning really great. Teresa and Michael watched over us as a team and were there atjust the right time to get us replenished beers. You will not find nicer people anywhere in town than these 2. Not sure of whichone of them are really the best bar keepers but I will give it a tie! Ask for them when you go and you will have a great time. Looking to watch a football game and grab a bite, we decided to give The Penalty Box a try. Overall, I'd say we were glad we... did. I had a classic bar burger that was very tasty; my friend had the tacos. We had no complaints. The food, drinks and servicewere very good. You can choose between sitting inside or out on the patio out back (which does have a large screen T.V.). Weopted to sit outside. Pricing is average here; reasonable enough. It's not an especially large place, but not tiny. Theatmosphere is decent and not too loud. I'd recommend it for a burger and a beer, anytime. Read more
Quick pop in for takeout, Thursday's half-off pizza. Ended up dining in as it wasn't crowded and an older model Golden Tee was... ripe for the picking. Great picturesque cheese pizza, good service, and nice open air garage- style front facing Woodward. Read more
I heard through the grapevine that J?s had some really good Pizza. I tried the Dill Pickle pizza and was really surprised how... fantastic it was. I don?t think many people realize how good of a pizza spot this is. Sure it?s a Bar, but this place couldeasily just be a Pizzeria and be just as successful. A solid 8/10 pizza. I didn?t want to give J?s Penalty Box a negative review in the first place, however after seeing the unprofessional response the... owner replied to my friend?s review, I felt it fair to have my voice heard about the establishment in question. I would givezero stars if I could. I have never been to an establishment where the bartenders and/or owner are extremely rude and enjoyfalsifying information to lose customers. I attend Wednesday Trivia night with a group of friends (about 4 people or sometimesmore each week), and have always ordered food whether our own (wings) or to spilt between us (pizza). At least one if not moreof us, orders an alcoholic beverage or soda as well as food. My last experience resulted in the bartender being extremely rudeand assuming "we never order food or drinks" and "we tip very poor.? My first response to this is we always tip 15-20%individually. We even offered to rectify the accusations in question to which we were told to ?be adults?(?). In our view, wehave never said anything that was less than respectful to the waitstaff, and there has never been a time we have stayed for anylonger than the length of trivia. I will not stand for slander from an owner making false accusations. Judging by looking atother fair reviews, the owner will try and bully this fair and just review with a sarcastic tone and unprofessional demeanor. Iexpect none the less from an establishment especially when it comes to their bartenders make false accusations without knowingall the facts. Read more
