Reviews for Penguin Ed's Bar-B-Que in Fayetteville, AK
Was really hoping for good BBQ. I had the chicken and hot links, the wife had the chopped beef and chopped pork. Mine was... amazing, no sauce required. Hers...not so much. Not sure if it was an off day in the smokehouse. The baked beans wereunderwhelming, as was the potato salad. Both tasted artificial and canned. Not a fan. Read more
I've seen some of these Penguin Ed's and finally stopped in to try it out. I ordered the shredded brisket sandwich on Texas... toast with broccoli and green beans. Been fortunate to try some BBQ in several areas and won't be back. The meat was too dryfor my tastes. Nothing special about the side dishes. You get two sauce dispensers, a hot and regular BBQ, and needed both dueto the dryness. Attentive service but won't be back. Read more
So good! Great brisque, pork and sides! Friendly staff! Thank you for the best food I've had so far on my 3 week road trip to... the south! Great sauce too! Read more
We stumbled on this place on accident. The aroma of the smoked meat was overwhelming and we had to stop. Started with a craft... beer that was excellent. We each ordered a meat plate. Everything on our plate was perfect. The Carolina hot mustard was great, the ghost pepper barbecue was fantastic. We will come back for more. Read more
Better than average BBQ joint. Very casual atmosphere. The brisket had good flavor. Sides were fair. The chocolate fry pie was... tasty although at almost $6, not a great deal. Read more
1/2 lb cheeseburger was cooked perfectly! Onion rings are coated with tempura batter, large and not greasy. The 2 meat dinner... (brisket and pulled pork) was spot on! Perfect, tender and generous portions. If you're a fried okra person, you'll love them atPenguin Ed's B&B. Cream Ale is refreshing and smooth. Effective, friendly service. Relaxing and chilled atmosphere, with greatblues playing, is what you'd want in a BBQ joint! If you're looking for yummy, filling food, Ed's is your place! Read more
Great BBQ place. There have 2 locations. I have never tried the other one, but have been to this one more than once. I was told... ?this? was the location to go to for the best experience. Although the sliced brisket was a bit drier than I like, it was stillgood, and everything else was as well. What you see on the plate is Battered fries, baked beans, Mac n cheese, brisket, pulledpork, and a large rib. Toast of course as well. It?s an old school set up with phones at the tables, although they do have waitstaff. They also have very good (I assume home made) large cookies. These are well worth taking home if your BBQ filled you up.Outdoor patio is a nice place to eat on a decent day as well. Read more
Food is good. Service was great! Homemade fried pies are small, but very tasty. Food could have been warmer (temp wise), but... that may be a personal preference. Portions were good sized. We shared a 1lb. potato. Read more
