THIS IS AMAZING! It's definitely a fusion of flavors: salty, sweet, savory! Pork is soft and simple, but man...that sweet sauce... on it makes it wild! Mofongo is soft and not dry or salty like most places (AKA PERFECTION). Definitely repeating!!! Worth it! Read more
This place is crazy good! I would give it 6 stars if I could! This is amazing, authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. I have been to... San Juan many times and my family has friends from Puerto Rico. We can all attest that this is the real-deal, no faking it. Richflavors, powerful aromas, excellent presentation, this place has it all. AND, they use non-plastic, non-styrofoam, biodegradablecontainers for all their to-go and delivery orders! AND AND, most of their options are Gluten Free!!! Plenty of Vegetarianoptions as well! Uber Eats knows me really well, so when it was recommending a Puerto Rican fusion place, of course I was going to order some!... And I?m so glad I did - it was delicious. I?ve had Puerto Rican before (in Tucson, AZ and Puerto Rico), and I was so excited toeat tostones again. El Chifrijo didn?t let me down, the tostones were perfect, the Mofongo was sooo much better than I?ve hadbefore (loved that aioli sauce!), my husband loved his Chifrijo bowl. 10/10 ordering from here again in the future! As someone who grew up eating Puerto Rican food, this ?twist or fusion? on Puerto Rican food was absolutely disgusting and... inedible. I was truly excited to try their food but was confused as soon as opened my container. Why is the sauce so sweet? ThePuerto Rican rice was so mushy and clearly over cooked. The rice lacked true flavor, every boricua knows the way to make rice iswith some sofrito. This rice was not it. The mofongo was disgusting, the sauce was overly sweet, the meat was heavily saltedand the bottom of the mofongo was sitting in pile of oils. I was very disappointed, since moving to Texas I haven?t been able tofind a decent Puerto Rican spot. I honestly don?t see how anyone can rate this spot with 5 stars. We had El Chifrijo cater our wedding as one of two food truck offerings and they could not have been more of an asset! I loved... the empanadas and mofongos (which everyone raved about) and the loaded plantain fries sold out quickly! Not only was the fooddelicious, but everyone was outrageously kind, both in communication leading up to the event as well as on the day. I think theywere everyone?s best friend by the end of the night judging by how much clapping there was upon their exit. They were soaccommodating, communicative and easy to work with, as well as extremely well-priced.
