Last... time we came we were really happy with our food and experience (get the blackened tofu tacos) but most recently we were leftdisappointed. We were sat at a table with an extreme slant at first, which was really uncomfortable but luckily we were able tomove. And our food wasn?t bad but it wasn?t very good, just bland and could?ve used some sauce or more flavor, which I thinklast time we got from the blackened tofu. Always fun to go to Clare & Don's Beach Shack and a bonus to be able to bring the dogs! Their expanded space is great so less... wait time, but parking is not as convenient with the expansion. They have made arrangements for plenty of overflow parkingwithin a few minutes walk so not a big deal. Service is attentive and the food is good. The size of the side dipping sauces istoo small but they gladly bring additional when asked. So fun and casual. Conversation with other diners flows easily and peopleare generally good about seeing good friendly dogs. The wait staff brings clean water bowls without asking. Fun times! Read more

Met some friends at this shack which I never knew existed and had a great time. Band was playing some nice music, for a great... table and the food and beer was excellent. There were a lot of people around 5:30 pm that kept the wait staff quite busy soservice wasn?t to the level I?m used to but the waiter kept everything flowing. I was really excited about this place because of the rave food and drink reviews, but it was overall disappointing to say the... least. We ordered two margaritas and grilled fish tacos, and none were good. Ordered the margs without ice, but they stilltasted watered down and not sweet- hard to explain the taste but they were just bad. The fish tacos were also not good- lackingany flavor, period. I'm not sure any of it was salted, and was expecting some lime or a citrus flavor that wasn't there. Theslaw was wilted and old, and none of it was fresh or even warm. The rice isn't even normal rice that comes with fish tacos, it'slike sprouted wheat you'd find in a health food store. Very disappointed because I was looking forward to checking this placeout. I would say the portions are large, but I'll probably end up throwing all of this away. The only saving grace are the sidesof guac, sour cream, and salsa that may help. I posted the above message on Yelp(thinking it would help improve the quality ofthe food), and the owner?s response was rude and unprofessional. The temperature was not even the main problem (the food wasn'teven warm, it was cold and I live right down the road)- the food should taste good regardless of temperature, which neither thefood nor drinks did. Also, the food should taste the same whether it's sit down or to go, basically restaurant rule of thumblol. I wouldn't recommend this establishment if it was the last place on earth. Had dinner there yesterday evening. The weather was great so the fact that they had so much shaded outdoor space to dine was... wonderful. We enjoyed the live music as well. Really added to the fun, laid back ambiance. Our food was tasty and veryfresh. The menu had lots of options! I am giving 4 stars rather than 5 because you pay extra for guacamole and sourcream...which is fine except that it was too small a portion for the tacos I ordered. I also had 2 cocktails ($10 a pop) andthey were very light on the liquor. Other than that, I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely visit again! Read more
