Additional Information
We located via Internet search while driving from Bardstown KY to Missouri. The place was not very full but took about 10... minutes to get seated. We ordered drinks right away and needed a few minutes to order. We finally had to ask for service afterapproximately 15 minutes. There were three of us and we ordered the following: O BLT Sandwich with French Fries O Pick 2 -Vegetable Soup and ½ BLT Sandwich O Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich with French Fries. The food came out hot/cold as itshould be. The food tasted good and was decent proportions. Prices in line with other family style restaurants. Althoughservice was delayed the people were very friendly and polite. We could have hit them on a not so great day. I would definitelytry them one more time if in the area but would not drive the 12-15 mikes out of my way again. If local, DEFINITELY visit. Iget the impression this would be a great place to go if I lived in the area.???? Read more
Three stars is generous. Went years ago after new management took over and it was below average. Figured I would try it again... after all this time. After waiting to be seated we were never asked about drinks or food while tables who were seated after uswere being served. Had about 4 maybe 5 servers running around. So staffing was not the problem. Read more
The husband and I stopped in because we wanted to support a local business plus Pie Pan has a pretty solid average on reviews.... Now, I ran into something odd on their Facebook page as they had been giving away a free pie. After winning said pie I was askedto confirm my identity by clicking a link that then asked me for my credit card information. Sus. Now, on to the food, service, cleanliness, etc... The food is solid diner fare with the biscuits being a stand out. Far from the unnaturally fluffy biscuitsyou get at major chicken chains these are solid, dense, and substantial, perfectly brown with a light crisp on the bottom. Thesausage gravy uses, from what I can tell, sausage patties cut up instead of the usual loose sausage. It's a tad bland comparedto the sausage used on the breakfast sandwich. The gravy itself was good acceptable but needed a good bit of pepper. The cheesyhashbrown casserole was nicely browned but underseasoned. The breakfast sandwich? Zero complaints. We were going to take somepie home but gave up when our waitress vanished. We waited about 15 minutes for a check and finally just went up front and stoodat the register. Thankfully another server noticed us and checked us out. So, we can't vouch for their allegedly famous bakedgoods. I'm hoping for pies made with either butter or lard in the crust instead of vegetable shortening and I have yet to findthat in the Evansville area. The coffee was a standout. Another reviewer said it's better than Starbucks coffee which theyassert tastes "burnt". I don't find that to be the case and appreciate a very bold coffee. Pie Pan's coffee is quite dark andflavorful without any hint of a burnt taste. I am thrilled when I come across coffee that isn't weak and insipid and this didn'tdisappoint. As a qualifier I'd also say that it's difficult to get consistently great food coming out with the high turnover inthe restaurant industry and in the American workplace at large at present. Now, the cleanl Read more
