Reviews for Hornville Tavern in Evansville, IN
This is not a review of the restaurant because I will not be going in there. The new owner/s of this place came into a... restaurant that I worked at and ordered a dinner that is popular on our menu. (I guess he was trying out local competitionbecause he definitely wasn't there to be friendly nice Etc and I honestly don't even know if he's ever come back). As he waseating it, he hollered out loud enough to startle me and some of our other customers that "this is the worst $@%& meal that hehas ever had in his life." I only have one word for that.......... Tacky!!!! Welcome to the neighborhood I guess right ??????? Read more
The food is very good, they have a waitress she is extremely rude rolls her eyes while waiting on you, not very nice at all. I... would definitely go more often but she makes the experience rather unpleasant the 3 times we have been there she has been thewaitress. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the attitude. And have given her 20 percent tip even with her bad attitude Read more
Been here 2-3 times with my sister-in-law & her husband, Jim & Laura Richie-Runion, and every time I am blown away by how good... their back ribs are!! I?m from Atlanta, GA, & we know Bar-B-Q. Give the Tavern a try, if you haven?t already! Read more
A hidden gem! Really enjoyed our trip to Hornville Tavern. Went in for lunch and got the fried appetizer platter and it was... huge with lots of selection. Finished lunched with a delicious double cheeseburger and fries. Everything was very reasonablypriced, would definitely recommend, and look forward to going back. Read more
My husband and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary and decided we had to try their pork chops. Such a good decision!... Their pork chops are amazing and their service was awesome too! Will definitely be back! Read more
In my worldly travels, I ran across this little place, a bit off the beaten path from the interstate, however, these are... usually the best finds. So I gave them a whirl. Place was clean with ample parking, has 2 entrances at the front, leftside isthe restaurant and the roughshod is the bar/tavern. This place serves alcohol, but was a neat rustic atmosphere on the inside, very cool. Old timey tin on the ceiling in the restaurant side, board and batten walls very neat. I wanted a Bison burger, but was informed they were out and on backorder, so I got a cheeseburger with with everything on it and onion rings. The meatwas hand patted and not frozen, over a 1/2" thick upon arrival to my table and had the best flame broiled/ grilled flavor ofany hamburger I've ever eaten. Juicy, this burger was GREAT!! The onion rings were nothing Steller, shame they weren't likehomemade beer battered ones or something. Sweet tea was good, not super dark and light to medium color and was not superflavorful of "tea" flavor. Service was very good. All in all, this place is worthy of driving out of the way if coming off ofthe interstate, such as myself and having some of the local cuisine. Read more
The old saying that the hole in the walls serve the best food applies to Hornville Tavern. I had the Ribeye and did not regret... it. It was tender, juicy, and oh so flavorful with just the right amount of fat to keep it tender and full of flavor. It made mymouth water and my belly thrilled. My friend had the smoked chicken, it was awesome smoked chicken as per my friend. TheGerman Potato Salad was delicious, loved it. And the Baked Beans were good a little different but good. My other friend had theRibeye Sandwich which was good, had just the right amount of fat to give it flavor and crinkle cut fries, they were excellentfor fries. We were all extremely impressed with our meals and service. Read more
Service was good. We both had dinners and not sandwiches. Food was mediocre at best. We have been told by friends that they do... have good sandwiches though. Also we found out after arriving that their web site is no longer accurate as they no longer offerfried chicken which is what we went there for. Read more
