Great place. But rude and entitled waiter. Male in shorts who told me I could not smoke my cigar outside the restaurant. Which... is fine .. as Evanston law prohibits that. Great, great great! And don't let the name fool you - the owner is not a goddess (at least, I don't think so), and the shop... sells more than wine. I'll call the space both cozy and crammed, and each is a compliment. There is such a wide selection ofwine, beer, spirits, aperitifs, snacks and more. You'd think the staff would have a hard time staying on top of it all, butthey're all warm and knowledgeable in dealing with questions. I was worried about how the shop would survive the pandemic andcompetition from a recently opened Binny's Beverage Depot, but it's a testament to The Wine Goddess's service, selection, andcharisma that it not only survived but is flourishing. I cannot recommend the Wine Goddess enough! If I could give them 10 stars I would! Throughout the pandemic, they have been... keeping the safety of their patrons and staff top of mind. I reached out to the staff to help plan a private virtual winetasting and the experience could not have been more fun. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive! To say the Wine Goddess has a great selection of wine would be an understatement. The beer, and liquor selection is good too. ... The wine on tap is great and they have lots of places to sit and relax. Most of the cheaper wines I've purchased here have beensub par but, I blame myself mostly for that. Read more
