Reviews for El Mex-Kal Family Mexican in Estes Park, CO
BEST chicken tortilla soup with a little heat if you like a little spice. The cup of soup is plenty big for a meal because it is... so hearty with lots of shredded chicken and big pieces of avocado in it too. They serve free chips and salsa, and the salsatastes homemade with incredible spices. Read more

We are Originally from Louisiana and just spent 5 years in WA state which has some of the blandest food in the country. As we... came back south we were hoping to find what we call Tex-Mex. As we took our first bites our eyes got huge and we both saidTex-Mex! Food was amazing, service excellent, what else can you ask for? Read more

Just ordered the chicken fajitas to go and the bigger pieces of chicken were not cooked through, luckily I have a stove in my... cabin rental to finish cooking them, they were delicious. My tortillas were microwaved so I used my stove to properly finishthem off as well (please stop microwaving tortillas, that's not what our ancestors did). Read more
Best Mexican food I?ve had outside New Mexico/Arizona. To be clear, we are spoiled by many visits to New Mexico, so can be hard... to please when it comes to Mexican food. I got two Enchiladas (one with red sauce, one with green) and one Chili Relleno, andthey were all very good, especially the Chili Relleno. Next time I?d order two Chili Relleno and one Enchilada with redsauce. My wife got two chicken enchiladas with red sauce and a bean tostada, and she rated the meal 3.5 out of 5. It?s worthnoting that the refried beans were very good. Seems most restaurants don?t try very hard on the beans, and they tend to bebland. These beans were very nicely spiced and were quite tasty with the rice. The complimentary chips and salsa were a highpoint. I?ve never had salsa as heavily spiced as this. You can taste the cumin in the salsa. Very unique. Service was verygood. We were eating less than five minutes after ordering, and our waiter was friendly and attentive. We both agreed it wasreally good for Colorado Mexican. Not as good as New Mexico standards, but much better than anything we can find in Florida. Read more
This was SHOCKINGLY good. It's very unassuming from the outside but holy smokes is it delicious. The rice and beans were a... little spicy and were honestly some of the best I've ever had. The margaritas were "meh" but I still drank it. The meat wascooked PERFECTLY and it was seasoned incredibly well. The chips were homemade and the salsa was so good we ordered another. Thewait staff was fantastic as well. Super polite and we enjoyed their company. This no frills location makes up in food for whatit lacks in appearance. We will DEFINITELY be back. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you're visiting fromout of town, don't let the appearance fool you. It was really really good. Don't let negative reviews deter you...because theyare wrong!!! Read more
