Old school hotel, didn't arrive in time to be checked in so my keys were left in an envelope. The porch is wonderful, room was... clean, nothing fancy kind of like a hunting/fishing lodge. What was cool was even though there was no coffee in the morning thegas station across the street is owned by the same guy and he gave me free coffee bc I stayed at the hotel. I loved the oldschool vibe and country trust would 100% stay again. Read more

The place is old and dated, but for the most part, clean and comfortable. The staff is nice and responsive. The pizza was good... and affordable. My sister and mom had no cell reception, but the hotel has reliable wifi. I would definitely stay there again.I can tell the owner is working to improve the place. Read more

I am leaving a 1 star only because the room was ok and the pizza was good. I stay there on January 23,2022. The manager or owner... never show up like they said he would. There was people smoking pot right near our room the smell came in our room it was sobad I went to tell one of the ladies that was working the Cafeteria she said she would let him know but never heard anythingfrom either of them. The lady did tell me he was supposed to be there in the morning but he never show up. I won't stay again. Read more

These reviews are old from before so let me give you the low down... it's a hunting lodge, pack your breakfast, bring a... fan. Cons: no breakfast, no coffee, AC does not work lucky with all the windows open we survived, mini fridge not workingproperly, light in the bathroom didn't work in one of our rooms pretty basic stuff that should be working for $80-$100 anight Pros: bed wasn't to uncomfortable, the water was hot in the shower, there was toilet paper, wifi and direct tv work, youcan bring your dog. So basically a hunting lodge. But the owner has got to fix that AC it's the south, even if Engelhard isn'ta destination. Read more

Engelhard is in the middle of nowhere, and it was WONDERFUL! The hotel was so relaxing! Drake and his great dog Hank made sure... we were comfortable. The fishing in the canal, that is in front, well basically all thru town, was so much fun. My husbandcaught a flounder! Drake said that he doesn't know of anyone who has done that. I plan on going back when my husband goes bearhunting and just relax and fish! Read more

I would like to thank Drake and his dog Hank for the stay and hospitality. My boys and a couple of my buddies spent the weekend... duckhunting Lake Mattamuskeet. Drake recently purchased hotel Engelhard and wish him the best. I would highly recommend stayinghere if you?re in the area. One of my boys left his drivers license and he was kind enough to mail it back to him. Thank youDrake for your hospitality and we plan on seeing you soon. Chris Smiles Read more

Stayed with my kids for an impromptu road trip. We could have stayed on the Outer Banks in Roanoake Island but luckily we... stayed here. So many people review that the owners are warm and accommodating. They speak truth. We could not have betterhostesses. The rooms themselves are spare, basic and sufficient for a peaceful night. They are on the small side but this is ablessing because it makes them easy to cool and have a good night's rest which you will be thankful for because pf the humidityand heat of the surrounding area. There is a canal nearby where crab and fish can be easily caught. So easily that even we didit, our first try. A key feature of the hotel is that locals will stop by to eat and chat. This is not to be missed. It willmake you evening, especially if you are tired and just want to unwind and jaw a bit. Read more
