Visited on 7/30/21. We showed up around 8:30pm with a group of 3, and took about 5 minutes to get seated. Service, when seated,... was quick and friendly! This being a steakhouse, the menu is focused almost entirely on steak, with a few other options such assalmon. I went with the Ribeye and stuffed potato and don't regret it. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and thesides were plentiful. It's fairly expensive, but for what you're getting it's pretty par for the course. Ate there recently. The $33 rib eye was less than grocery store meat. How dare you call your restaurant a "Steak House" The... steak was approaching inedible. The stuffed potato thing was like a potato skin boat filled with plastic spray can cheese foodsubstance. The problems don't stop there but I don't have all day to cover the details. Suffice it to say NOPE. And then therewas the snippy female host that seated us needs to grow a personality. We wasted our money. Sorry but that's the truth. This was the worst dining experience ever when stopping for dinner on our way to Vegas. 1.) Our drink orders were wrong 2.) It... took 20 minutes to place our order. 3.) The appetizer stuffed mushrooms were all heat no flavor 4.) 2 tables who sat after usgot their orders ahead of ours. 5.) After 40 minutes of waiting, when our order arrived, it was Wrong Again. 6.) We left withouteating our meals and still were charge $40 for bread, 2 coffees, 1 soda, 1 appetizer,, and a long Island iced tea. I am verythankful my friend, who's Birthday we were celebrating with our trip, hadn't taken her insulin when we ordered or we would havehad a medical emergency on our hands with the wait for service. I travel to Ely for work a few times a year. This is the first time I ate at the Cellblock. Had a great Ribeye! Cool place.... Update: Sad to see they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the winter :( Read more
Incredible steak dinner! The service was excellent. And the atmosphere is fun but elegant at the same time.
Excellent food, excellent place! I took my family of four here after arriving in Ely late at night. Despite it being friday... night, we only had to wait 15 minutes. The jail cell theme is really neat. Those complaining about authenticity have obviouslyfailed to read the back of the menu. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. I ordered the ribeye medium rarewith the stuffed potato and house salad. My wife ordered the filet mignon, stuffed potato, and house salad. Her steak was thebest ive tasted in a while! Both steaks were spot on and seasoned just right. The asparagus was nice and tender, but notovercooked. The stuffed potato wasnt too bad, but I'd probably order a baked potato next time. It didnt taste bad, it just wasntwhat i was expecting. The beans were great as well, i love the bacon pieces and seasoning they use. The price is sort of high,but i expect that from a steakhouse.
