While the staff and jazz are great, the food is extremely sub par. It is a chef based menu with prices that would reflect the... cost of a chef preparing the meals, but everything we had was lacking extremely. The duck was tough and not cooked properly, and the sauce it was served with tasted like ketchup(it was so tough that it was inedible)and the rice was dry, the steaksandwich was basic, boring and overpowered by the amount of horseradish used. Had such a beautiful baby shower this past weekend at The Rye Bar and Restaurant. We were so pleased with Melanie, catering... manager along with Charlie and the amazing staff!! The food, event space and overall service could not have been more perfect!They went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time and the service was fantastic. A pleasant surprise and fantastic meal. Staff was friendly, helpful and easy going. As someone who can out-cook many restaurants... I'm not one to leave reviews unless warranted. The salmon was done perfectly. Chicken was done great. And the selection of winesand liquors was very impressive even by NYC standards. Thanks for a wonderful evening! Read more
We stopped here for dinner on our way home from elmira. I picked this placed from the reviews and the photos and it was a great... choice! My wife ordered the rodeo burger with onion rings. The onion rings were fantastic. I ordered a peanut butter and jellyburger which I thought was odd and was why I had to try it. It was very delicious and a little messy. It was a very filling mealin a great atmosphere. All the staff was excellent and our server was great and personable. Beautiful place that makes you happy to be there. The food was great, and the meal I had was one of the best meals I?ve had in a... long time. The brunch service was a little lacking (I think we got lost in the shuffle and forgotten for a while) but it seemedlike our negative experience was an anomaly, and I can?t wait to go again. A major gem in Elmira! My family was looking for a last minute Sunday brunch spot to accommodate our group and Rye did not... disappoint. The decor is beautiful, the menu is classic with enough of an exciting twist, and the staff was attentive andfriendly.
