What an amazing experience at J&S Smokehouse! Stopped here for lunch while passing through to Corpus Christi. What a great... choice it turned out to be! Our waitress, Ica was very attentive and helpful to us newcomers. She explained the menu andchecked in on us regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. The brisket plate was prepared perfectly. The meat was sotender and had just the right amount of smoke flavor. The cole slaw was absolutely the best! BBQ sauces are home made, theirspicy option could use a little more zing but still very tasty. Don't forget to grab a piece of apple pie before you walk outthe door. The pie crust was prepared perfectly. We won't be back for another year but already looking forward to our next stophere for lunch! Read more
It's been a year since I've been here and the food experience has really changed. The brisket was dry the pork rib was tough... the chicken dry. My daughter order chicken strips the adult plate and that only came with three strips. The chicken strips wereover cooked and the fries were cooked in old oil. The cook came out and apologized and said he told the owner that the oilneeds to be changed. He also said the food is in a warmer. We waited for over thirty minutes for our food and it's already beencooked. Then on top of that they removed the three orders and wanted to charge 18 percent on top of the bill total becausethere were six of us but only three ate. I won't be going over there anymore. We arrived just before closing on a Friday night after leaving San Antonio. They were out of brisket but they made it right by... giving us extra pulled pork, the smoke on the ribs,pork, chicken and sausage was perfect! They serve fresh cut French fries thatwere delicious.It was clean,the service was great and they were friendly even though it was just before closing. I highlyrecommend it. Read more
Ribs are NOT FALL of the Bone tender and only taste was salt, and lots of it.... ToGo order with a loaded baked potato which did... not have any sides of butter or bacon bits, nor was there any b-b-q sauce for the extremely dried out "brisket". First time being here, I got the brisket plate. First I didn?t like the amount of brisket on there. I thought there could have... been a little more, like 2 more half strips. It was good though. The Mac and cheese is great, it has a nice taste and creamiertexture to it. The potato salad was good. My drink was the 32 oz fresh strawberry lemonade. It was great. Overall, the food wasgood. Would I return? Sure, I would just to see how the rest of the meats taste. As far as coming back consistently andrecommending the place, I think there are better places out there. I wouldn?t be so fast to recommend this place to my friends,based off of the brisket because that?s the meat you gotta have at BBQ places. I have tasted juicier.
