Our party of four stopped for a toddy on our way back to buffalo from east aurora. The owners appear to have sunk a lot of $$$$... into this business. Lots of parking. Food downstairs but we didn't have anything due to just having finished dinner elsewhere.The upstairs bar/lounge is nice but going upstairs to enjoy drinks is a bit out of thought for someone older or have awalking/climbing disability. The new outdoors deck is on the smaller side with five four person tables. The view is pretty niceoverlooking the creek in the distance about 150 yards away. All of our party thought it was highly overpriced when we receivedour drink bill. One would have thought you were downtown at a high class drinking establishment I can't truthfully say we wouldgo back.on a regular basis. Read more
Unbelievable! They serve only chicken but at lunch time had no chicken breasts! They had 2 specials the day we went in (our... FIRST visit) but we were told they didn't have one of the two. No menus, instead an overhead board advising what we could order(like a fast food restaurant) but all they had that day was chicken thighs and legs! Unreal! My experience at The Chicken Shack is mixed. Starting with the positives. The atmosphere is excellent and can tell the owners... put great thought, effort and money into the place. The outdoor seating area is going to be great when the warm weather arrives.The beer and drink selection is fantastic especially the exclusive brew by 42 North. Staff was also nice and friendly. Neutralon the sides we got of collard greens and pork n beans. Collard greens had a nice spice and beans had nice savory flavor. Thenegative, and why I'm giving a two star review, is the chicken. It was bad. I got the mixed meal for $12. It came with a thigh,drum and three wings. The drum was big. Thigh was on the smaller size. The wings were pathetic. Little to no meat. The chickenwas lukewarm and breading was bland, soggy and chewy. This is a chicken restaurant and the chicken was not good, not evenmediocre. In Buffalo we do wings, which is fried chicken, to perfection. I get this is southern fried and there are differencesbut the lack of flavor and freshess is inexcusable. I want this place to succeed as the atmosphere is great. But as a chickenrestaurant I cannot recommend it. Read more
Really good! Had the fried chicken breasts, collard greens and Mac n cheese. There was plenty of meat, very tender. Restaurant... has a very nice interior and atmosphere. Definitely Recommended! Yes, it costs more than fast food. Worth it! Read more
Loved the spicy chicken, really liked the tater tots and biscuits, but the green beans and dirty rice were just okay. Chicken... was super meaty. Normal meal prices are super expensive. Lunch special isn't bad for $8, but it's not enough food for mostpeople. Read more
