Decided to try Schooner's on a whim. We were seated and our wonderful server Patty came and took out drink orders. When she... returned with our drinks she waited patiently to answer our questions...then took our orders. She brought our salads and adrink refill. When the food arrived it was HOT! It was delicious! It was great portions...we did not leave hungry. Patty wasgreat, food was great and if we return to the area we will definitely go back and ask for Patty. Read more
First our server was very nice. But the food was just gross. We got the sweet potato casserole and it was cold. Fries were cold.... I got fried scallops and they were hard. Hush puppies were ok and the peel and eat shrimp were ok. I don?t send food backbecause I?m not a crazy person. Sad that this place was so bad. Read more
We waited over an hour to get seated, then another 10 mins for a server to come to say hello. She was busy at the table next to... us talking about her last trip to Montana. Sounded amazing, I'm going to have to go there sometime. Meanwhile, the 6 of us arejust sitting there getting older by the minute. The coleslaw came out first, and there was a lot of it!! I got the Broiled Triodish, it was ok, but not great. The Broccoli Casserole was terrible, a few of us had it and nobody could stomach it. The hushpuppies had a weird flavor. Once we got service, it was pretty good, part of that was due to the fact that the place wasemptying out, apparently, they close at 8:30 pm on Saturdays, that's weird. Good sized eatery was still packed with a Friday lunch crowd at 1:30, but after a brief wait I was seated and served promptly.... My food came out hot and was good, although there is something to the reviews saying that their breading is light on taste. Myshrimp weren't bad, but they needed the complimentary sauce to be complete. Everything else hit the mark for me. Read more
I spotted no line outside, which is very rare, and immediately stopped in for dinner. My first time here. I had the 10 oz prime... rib special topped with housemade onion rings, came with a salad and 2 sides. My child had the kids burger, side and a drink.House made key lime pie for dessert, super creamy. Excellent service and the staff was really friendly. A definite 'must stophere' for dining out! If you are searching for a family friendly restaurant, then Schooners may check all your boxes. Good good, affordable prices,... relaxed environment and no tables staring at you if your family breaks out in complete laughter. If ranking it as a ?date? typerestaurant, I would probably give it a 3. If I ranked it as a good value restaurant, it would get a 5. If ranking it forambiance, probably a 4. They have happy Hour and early diner specials. But the food? Side Salad - fresh but nothingspecial. Chowder - good but nothing special. Sauce - ask for their sauce when you go, it is kind of like a yum-yum sauce. Hushpuppies - I am not a hush puppy lover, but these were quite tasty Scallops - one of my favorites, so good. Fried fish - sorry,better options on the menu. Fried Shrimp - REAL DEAL HOLEYFIED, it is the way to go here. Lightly battered, cookedperfectly.
