Always great food (I would suggest staying away from the lobster, it always seems slightly overcooked, most likely due to the... style of cooking)! Waitresses are extremely nice and all the chefs do a phenomenal job! We are frequent fliers at this locationand pass many other Hibachi restaurants on our 45 minute drive to this location. Read more

We have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years and I was so disappointed tonight. The prices are through the roof and the... service is atrocious. Almost two and a half hours for dinner on a Monday night. The chef was good, very entertaining but theservice and the cost of our meal will definitely be the reason we find other restaurants moving forward. $145 for two adultsand two kids drinking water is ridiculous. We had the best experience our server and the 18 year old cook were awesome. We have never experienced such good service as we... did tonight and their was 14 of us. They were both attentive to our needs and helped tremendously with our 3 year old. This is a great spot to stop and have good hibachi! We loved our server who aided in the great check war of our family. I've... never seen shrimp come as an appetizer automatically and while I don't enjoy shrimp I think that is a great extra. The water wegot was pretty gross so that wasn't great and the 10$ glass of wine which was about 3-4 ounces was a bit over priced could havebeen better. Over all it was a good experience. Read more

We have been in search for a decent Japanese Steak House since we moved to St Augustine. We've tried others in and around the... surrounding areas. All were disappointing, so we were a little apprehensive about Mikato. I have to admit we were presentlysurprised to find it acceptable. While It wasn't the best we ever visited. It was clean, had a presentable apprarance, friendlyand engaging staff. My wife and I ordered the shrimp tempora from the sushi bar and shared the Terriaky chicken and ShrimpHabachi Meal. The share charge was about average @8$. We each received a bowl of clear soup, a salad with ginger dressing, oneappetizer shrimp, fried rice with fried eggs and light vegetables, Shrimp and Chicken with vegetables. While the main courseportion was slightly smaller than we are use to, it was the perfect amount for tonight but no lunch for tomorrow. Some itemsthat were lacking are. Clear soup was light on flavor, ginger salad dressing was to thick and no flavor almost like a dried outmarinade, the rice was over cooked to the point I felt like I was eating seeds at times, the chicken was cut to large, overcooked while not having any flavor and the vegetables were under cooked. The things that really impressed us were: the staff wasexcellent, our server was very attentive, the chef was very interactive, they have clear soup, the tempora shrimp was fresh, theshrimp in the Habachi Meal were the large appetizer shrimp without an up-charge and they were cooked excellent. With all thatsaid, overall the evening was enjoyable and we will be back. I hope the next vist is as enjoyable or better! Read more
