When they say decor needs some work, it seriously needs some work. We almost walked out after getting there. It made the place... feel unclean. We had only cooked sushi as that?s all I can eat right now and it was very good. The crab ragoons were awesome andthey were fairly quick on the service. My husband had the hibachi chicken and he said it was just ok. The seating wasn?t great,our 3 year old couldn?t really reach the table well so would not recommend a booth. I got some veggie rolls, miso soup, and a salad that came with said rolls. My family (who got fish) liked most of theirs (i... think...they didnt talk about it much), mine was just okay. It didnt rlly taste bad, i actually liked some of it. Ive just hadway better sushi. Maybe it just wasnt as fresh? It is nice to have Japanese food when visiting family in a place that i wouldntexpect to have much asian food tho. I gave my mom my miso soup and she said she really enjoyed it. Kudos Sakura! The best choice is the Tempura Shrimp Bento Box for a sit down meal. The shrimp are delicious and HUGE! They have... a beautiful side of Squash, Zucchini, and an Onion Ring in the box too which is perfect and doesn't over power the meal and lotsmore. Take out I recommend the crazy girl roll (includes Eel and Avacado with a surprising crunch) and the traditionalCalifornia rolls. If you walk in and wait it's fun to watch the Chefs preparing meals at the window so quickly way behind theglass at the register. If you call and pick up the waiting is about 20 minutes on average or less. Sit down in this restaurantis a great experience; their are lovely paper umbrellas that currently hang as decorations (very minimalist) and the Wait Staffis fabulous, attentive, and fast. They always have chopsticks available if you like them. There is no current kid's menu (whichwould be a good idea to add) so you have to be creative in ordering when taking children. There are about 10 comfortable boothsand a few extra tables and chairs in the center that would suit well for bigger gatherings. I don't know if they did this beforethe pandemic but if they set the restaurant up for the Chefs to be seen at the meal (at the table) preparing the dishes, Ibelieve that they would have a full house ALL the time. I think people would pay even more to experience that at a meal, Iwould. The food portions currently are so large for such a low price and the presentation is very pleasing to the eye. Excellent place for Japanese food. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. Only complaint is they don't have anything on... menu specifically for kids like smaller portion sized. Read more
10/20/2021: We drove for about 45 minutes from Canaan Valley Resort to Sakura for dinner. The restaurant setting is quite... simple, nothing fancy. The food displayed nicely and tasted good. But for the price, I still give it a 5-star! Read more
Sakura is our new favorite sushi restaurant. Friendly, and attentive waitstaff. Clean tables, floors, and bathrooms. And the... food was delicious. It was nice being able to see into the open kitchen and watch our sushi and other customers' hibachi beingmade fresh. Read more
Today was the first time I ever tried this place (I don't live in Elkins anymore), and it was excellent. Everything from the... miso soup to the sushi roll and hibachi were great. Everything came out hot and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious itwas, especially the hibachi. It had the right amount of sauce, the vegetables were grilled well and were flavorful. Greatportions, too, as there was no way I was finishing everything in one sitting. Glad to see Elkins is slowly getting morerestaurant options.
