There wasn't too many customers, mostly elderly people. The people who take your orders are really friendly. I ordered the... shrimps and grits, it looked great and smelled great but it taste bland. They gave me more seasoning in a small cup and thathelped but I ended up getting a shrimp shell in my food, I didn't let anyone know because I already felt like I bothered themenough. This is a nice place to go when you want breakfast! Read more

Stopped by with a group for a quick breakfast. We ordered biscuits which were tasty, soft, and delicious. Prices were decent.... The options include sausage, ham, bacon, fried chicken, egg, and cheese. They also sell other delicious breakfast and nonbreakfast items. The server/staff member was friendly and helpful and the service was fast (given we were in a bit of a rush).Street parking available near the cafe. Read more

My family and I ventured out for breakfast one morning during our brief stay in Elizabeth City. There aren't many options in the... small town, but we did eventually find Colonial Cafe, a very traditional breakfast and lunch cafe. The breakfast menu is full ofomelets, biscuit sandwiches, pancakes, and plenty of bigger platters. I settled on the fried chicken biscuit, cajun style($6.99). Their biscuits are really good alone, but adding some spice from the chicken was an excellent choice. I really enjoyedthis sandwich. I also had some of my daughter's biscuits & gravy ($8.99 with a choice of home fries, grits, or baked apples). Iwould have ordered this had she not done so. But I knew there would be plenty leftover. This was a good serving of biscuits &gravy, again their biscuits are fresh baked and good on their own, but when topped with homemade sausage gravy you can't gowrong! Read more

Great local mom and pop place that you can afford to take the whole family. We had breakfast, my only complaint is that the... grits were not seasoned when they were cooked. Would recommend and plan on going back when in the area. Note, when we left, there was a long line waiting for tables...plan accordingly. Read more

First timers, we ate breakfast there at 10am on a Saturday. We were seated quickly and our food was out within 10 min of... ordering. Waitress was very informative and told us a quick run down of the city and the mural within the restaurant. I wouldsay they were very inviting. The food was very affordable and fantastic. We had the shrimp and grits as well as "the dirtybird". Read more
