Looking for an ?end of summer? destination with good food. The Burning Bale has been on my list for some time. The sun was... shining and the birds were singing! Game on! Pick up a friend for the trip from Winnipeg to Elgin. The reviews were instantlytallied: This restaurant?is a winner! En route I called ahead to confirm they are open. YES. A beautiful warm day warranted afew little stops along the way - putting our arrival behind the time I indicated we would arrive. Almost there & I get a returncall - checking for our eta. Thank You Chef Germain!!! I am very appreciative for your willingness to delay your closing! It wassooooo worth the drive! Food - beyond my expectations! Brisket Kaiser/fries?perfection! My friend had the cast ironburger/fries - mmm mmm good!!! Staff - super kind. Owner - very friendly and generous with delicious food! Burning Bale, youhaven?t seen the last of me!!! Thank you again! ???? Read more

As a frequent customer of The Burning Bale, I think it is a amazing restaurant. The menus always have rather unique dishes and... the chef and staff really seem to strive to make a warm, welcoming presence. Read more

Elgin maybe a little out of the way but the Burning Bale is a definite must try. You can't tell by the picture cause I waited to... take it once people started to leave, but it was packed when we got there. We just missed the breakfast special (ran out due topackness- not a real word but if you heard me talk you'd know I have many words that aren't in the dictionary lol). Anyways,Rick and I had the Cast Iron Burger. It was very good. Homemade patties which is always a plus. I'm not one for crazy spicy butthe Hillbilly BBQ Sauce was really good. Not overly spicy, the homemade Fries were a smaller cut which had a nice crisp to them.Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Glad we finally made it out there. We hear Great Things about the pizza so hopefully wecan make it out there soon to try one. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. Read more

Had one of the best pulled pork's that I have ever had today. With a poutine that had gravy so good I had to tell the chef it... felt like I was at my moms again. I will absolutely be back again. If this restaurant had a bed, I don't think I'd ever leave,I'd just apply for a job. Read more

Great Cast Iron Burger! Next time I'd ask for extra Hillbilly sauce because it was so tasty (smoked jalapeno tomato sauce, mayo,... and de-alcoholized apple pie moonshine and Everclear). The poutine was a generous portion with real cheese curds and homemadefries with the perfect amount of sea salt. Chef Germain and our server were friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returningfor the brisket and pulled pork poutine specials! Visiting The Burning Bale was well worth the 45-minute drive from Brandon but,if you're coming from afar, then it's best to call ahead in case they close early! Read more

Service was friendly and heartfelt "no body goes un hungry here!" Good communication in the kitchen, and seemed happening with... people calling to place orders for pick-up. Everyone calling for a legendary burger apparently is the go to for pick-up orders, from the time I was there; must have been 5 or 6 calls for food pick-up. Hours Open were different then google had posted:1030am - 130pm and 4pm - 630pm Tuesday to Saturday. Clean bathrooms! I was traveling through on a Thursday, and experienced afriendly culture reminder of Elgin's heritage along with an amazing dining room feel. Even during these days with so much goingon in the world, it was nice to feel the comfort of home being at the Burning Bale in Elgin. I had the Chicken and CheeseTaco's with the soup of the day, and enjoyed viewing the pictures of what Elgin once was, and felt the warmth of what it stillis in the hearts of the folks that live there. The price was cheep for the quantity of food, and flavour that makes you thinkyou've been introduced to the heart of Elgin. You'll have to be your own judge, but even passing through - it was well worththe open hearted welcoming community feel. Read more
