Reviews for Charcoaler Drive-In in El Paso, TX
Been by here and been intrigued about trying this place and I did. Food was cooked to order and the wait wasn't so long. The... burger was decent. The extra singe on the bacon did help the taste and it wasn't a bad burger just wasn't an exceptional. Nowthat I am thinking on it, I can't remember if I got the cheese that I asked for on it. The fries were disappointing. The firstfry I had was lukewarm and unseasoned. The second one gave me the raw potato vibe and I almost felt like I would be sick, Icouldn't finish them. The staff was nice and I didn't hate it, if it wasn't for the fact that there are some items that I wouldlike to try again, I wouldn't go back. This place is cost effective and the view is nice so it does have desirable aspects. Read more
Still love this place, good food. Good prices, very clean remodel.
Great tasting burgers, they do have the taste of a charcoal grill! A classic drive in, great old school atmosphere. The burgers... may be a bit smaller than other non-franchise places. Friendly staff, tables were very clean. Read more
Great food, with a new building, and a small little bar and outdoor activities. Very cool and unique place. Ate the food before... taking a picture but i got the burger with the hot cheetos, it was delicious. Read more
I used to love this place, seems like since they have been going down in flavor since they did their comeback. Did the BBQ sauce... change? The last time we went the friend pickles and chicken nuggets were burnt. I had a burn burger in my passed orders. I'mliking it less and less. Read more
The Charcoaler is an El Paso institution. My wife is from El Paso, and she and her family love it. The onion rings are really... spectacular with a crust that shatters when you bite it. She and her family love the hamburgers, and of course being in El Pasoyou can get them with a variety of chilies and guacamole and all kinds of stuff. The burger itself, however, at least for me, isnothing spectacular. I think it's really one of those things where if you grew up here, eating it, it would be your defaulthamburger. Any El Pasoen would give it five stars. I think it's pricey for what it is. Four bucks for a cheeseburger. They are,by the way, very heavy on the ketchup, unless you specifically order otherwise. Great food but would like it if my burger had lettuce and a little less BBQ sauce. Kids and dog friendly on their games patio!... Props to the worker who was handling walk in and drive through traffic! It was our first time coming here and would definitelycome again! I know the onion rings don?t look as crispy but they truly are! Oh and they give you the good soft, crushed ice inyour drinks! ???????? Read more
Good service, reasonable prices but food was just not that good. The texture of the hamburger meat was grainy That is the result... of when you over knead the ground beef or you put a additive to make it go farther. The onion rings were way too greasy. Thefries are frozen, not homemade. Too bad, the Charcoaler was a fave back in the day. Read more
