A must try. Sad I had not tried this place sooner. We dined in for lunch and it was very tasty. The food was hot and full of... flavor. The sauces provided were varied enough that each of us were able to find one we liked (I recommend the Alberta Sweet,it was good). I don't know what kind of pickle they gave but if you are a pickle fan you will love the one you get, it wasdelicious. The staff was great, our waitress was attentive and professional but still down to earth and welcoming. Read more

Finally made it to the Transit to try the new bbq joint out and it was fantastic. The three of us ordered a four-meat platter... with a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread and it was more than enough food that we took some home. The meat was very tasty, particularly the brisket. Both sides were delicious as well. We went for dessert after and ordered the ginger cake (AMAZING) andthe smoked blueberry ice cream (very intriguing and delicious as well). One of the owners, Ray, stopped by our table to ask howthings tasted, which was appreciated. There is love music every night as well. I will be back for more bbq! Read more

Dropped in on a Saturday night for a date night. We had no idea what we were going for, we just thought it was cool that the old... building had been bought and wanted some BBQ. Walked in and realized there was live music, as we were taken to our seats theatmosphere of the place was great. Our server was really nice and helped us make some choices. We got brisket and sausage aswell as fries and ceaser salad and everything was yummy. The owner/manager came and spoke with us and was really friendly andasked how everything was. Even the musician came and spoke with us for a moment. We had a good time with good food and musicand will be back! Read more

My family took me here as a birthday treat. Had never been before but have wanted to try it out since they opened. The food was... really very very good. 3 of us ordered the brisket and the other ordered the ribs. We all chose the 2/3 lb portion and it wasmore than enough. No need for a knife, the brisket fell apart on your fork and was absolutely delicious. The ribs fell off thebone. The lattice fries were an unexpected delight, crisp and tasty. The live entertainment was great. The artist had awonderful voice and his music was not too loud, played mostly pop rock songs that made you want to sing along. The restaurantwas about half full, there was one server and the owner yet the service was friendly and we did not have to wait long for ourfood. We were too full for dessert but I want to go back and try the smoked ice cream. Overall I strongly recommend The TransitSmokehouse to all meat lovers (no vegetarian or vegan options) Read more

It?s refreshing to see this 113 year old historic building still serving the same way it has been from day one. This can?t be... said for most of Edmonton?s historic buildings. The smoked brisket was so tender that you could cut through with a plasticstraw! The restaurant said that they are using certified angus beef and the quality was obvious right away. I also tried thefamily size portions (very big) of the sweet potato fries, dirty rice, and mashed potatoes. All of these items were great! Thefood and the vibe remind me of a road house bbq somewhere in Texas or Louisiana. It was refreshing to have the owner speak tous after we ate the meal to make sure we had a good experience. Very busy. Grabbed some food for takeout. Ribs were tasty. The spicy Andouille sausage was not spicy. Sweet potato fries were... good. I would advise to eat them hot. Read more

Checked out this restaurant for the first time for my Dad's birthday. The food was absolutely amazing!!! Loved the history and... the atmosphere inside. They had some great old tunes playing and we were told eventually there will be live music playing overthe dinner hours. Felt like we were somewhere down south and gone back in time in all the best ways! The staff was great andthe owner even stopped by to say hello and check in! Highly recommended checking it out!
