We ordered from Spice and Rice through Skip The dishes back when the restaurant was in it's early days. They called us multiple... times because they didn't have certain menu items and they forgot about our order. We ended up getting our food 2 hours laterand with a missing item. We called the owner back, they were incredibly apologetic and they delivered the missing itemthemselves. Despite all of this, the food was amazing, so I can't give this small business a bad review! Just came out of here with 3 large jerk chicken dinners and some oxtail and ill never eat Jamaican food anywhere else in... Edmonton! Amazing authentic flavor huge portions and amazing service from the lovely ladies inside. Felt good to support andfeels even better in my belly ! Love love it ! 20 stars out of 10! I've had food from Spice n Rice twice now (Jerk chicken and Rasta Pasta) and both are amazing dishes! The portion size is also... quite large! Highly recommend this place if you want some solid food with lots of flavour. Read more
This thing, this thing right here is what's refered to as "The Rasta Pasta" and by gum does this bowl pack some serious action,... ran a little ahead at work today stopping to scoop some lunch and though it took a little longer than anticipated probablycould've called and ordered pick-up but had no real idea as to what I was expecting. I?ve driven by this place for a year and finally stopped in for takeout. Food was amazing. Each dish is made to order but it?s... worth the wait (approx 15-20 min). I shared the Jerk Chicken and Mango Chicken with a friend, they were both well balanced andflavourful. The jerk wasn?t too spicy but had some warmth. Can?t wait to try the rest of the menu. We had heard great things about this place and finally decided to bite the bullet, and give it a go and we weren't disappointed.... The food is incredible - tender, spicy chicken and flavourful spice n' rice with an assortment of delicious sides. That beingsaid however, I think the customer service could be improved a bit. Everyone who works there is very kind and helpful, but theservice is a bit slow and chaotic. When we ordered our food, we were told it would take 25 mins but once we got there (around 30mins later), it took an additional 15 mins. The more disappointing piece was that we were only told 5 mins before we got ourfood, that they didn't have the ingredients for one of our orders and so, had to replace it with an alternative. I understandthese things happen but it would have been courtesy for them to provide some sort of extra to compensate for the inconvenience.Also, when we received our order they forgot to include all the items and we had to remind them about it. All in all, the foodis fantastic, the people who work there are incredibly kind, and one thing for sure is we'll certainly be back. Myrecommendation would be for them to have more of a system in place when it comes to ordering. For example, they could take thecustomer's number down to tell them if they had to make a change to their order or update them on their order if it's takingmore time or maybe even, being more pessimistic with the time so expectations are being met. I would also double check the orderand make sure it's fulfilled before giving it to the customer. If you're thinking of going to this place, I do highlyrecommend. Ordered a mango chicken and received a curry chicken with raw potatoes and peppers. I wouldn?t have minded if it was at least... cooked right but there was absolutely no flavor. Also got rice n peas instead of their spice n rice. My order was justcompletely wrong. Coleslaw also had no dressing. Menu says it comes with a side of plantain and bread, which they apparently ranout of but told us beforehand. Fair. My boyfriend ordered a jerk chicken, was told it?d be brown meat but it wasn?t. And onceagain, no flavor. I wish we would have opened up the container and taken a look before leaving but they were about to close andwe were in a rush to go home. Lesson learned. Read more
