Takeout is always packaged so neatly and tastes great! Sashimi is fresh and thick cut. Tuna tataki had great flavours. Our cat... also appreciates the big paper bag. Read more

Food was excellent, cozy little place.\n\nDrink: Fuji Sumo - good balance of flavors\n\nApp: Angry Edamami - This was a pleasant... surprise with the chilis and fried garlic. Way better then the traditional sea salt and soya sause.\n\nFood:\n1. House Roll -good flavor this was our favorite.\n\n2. Baked Scallop Roll - Melted in your mouth, very fresh\n\n3. Pressed Salmon - it wasgood, but the least favorite out of the 3 rolls. If you can\'t handle spice ask for it without the jalapeño(super spicy)\n\n4.Chicken Yaki Udon - Little one loved the sause and noodles were cooked just right. Read more

This izakaya was one of my Edmonton my to eat list for a while which I\'m from Calgary.\n\nThis family long weekend we finally... had an opportunity to stay in Edmonton for 3D2N, was impressed by the service and food there, I can tell they have the heart tocook good food for the customers, also not understaffed which we had impressive service by the young girls.\n\nMatcha beersounds very weird but after the first sip you wanna drink more, it was terrific!\n\nTakowashabi is always my favorite which Ihaven\'t been having it for long since I can\'t find a restaurant serving this in Calgary but in Sakura,it tastes great and Ilove how the serve with nori!\n\nWe also ordered some pressed sushi, which they are good, but not wow, as we do have a favouritepressed sushi restaurant in our mind and no one can beat it so far..\n\nWe ordered the cod fish which I thought the veggies wasjust for garnish but they actually put dressing into it so it was actually a salad! This I can see the heart from thechef.\n\nWe also order chicken karage, were so full so we took it back to the hotel, it was still crispy after 5,6 hours!\n\nWealso ordered hamachi, ikura and Toro sushi, thick cut and very fresh!\n\nThe steam clam was amazing, I love how the put thebutter with sake and some other seasoning, also they are perfectly cooked, would like have some bread or pasta to eat withit!!\n\nWe also ordered bancha, it\'s a tea that very silky and smooth, not sure what kinda water they use for the tead butdefinitely not from the tap.\n\nThis place gonna be a must visit for Edmonton restaurant for us. Love this place! Read more

Everything I ordered is yummy and original. The staffs are friendly as well. The only thing I would say is that the plum wine is... kind of small, but it is good quality as well. Would like to come again soon. Read more

10/10 experience, definitely my new favourite izakaya spot in town! The staff were all super pleasant and made us feel welcome.... We tried the matcha beer and it was so refreshing and delicious, I haven\'t tried this anywhere else in Edmontonyet~\n\nPictured here:\n\n- Assorted Sashimi: the thickest pieces of sashimi that I\'ve ever eaten at a restaurant before, youcould tell the fish was super fresh as well!\n\n- Chicken Karage: juicy pieces with lots of meat (not just all batter), thespicy mayo dipping gave it that extra kick!\n\n- Grilled Salmon Belly: probably my favourite part of the meal, the fish outsidewas charred nicely while the salmon inside was melt-in-your-mouth buttery\n\n- Pressed Saba Sushi: the rice was cooked perfectlyand each bite was extra savory!\n\nNot pictured:\n- The yummy Strawberry Nigori sake we had for dessert and quickly downed(tastes just like juice)\n\nWe will undoubtedly be back, came for the food, stayed for the sake. Tried this new spot on a whim and fell in love. Honestly not many places can compete with Japonaise for their pressed sushi...... BUT, this was on par, and I dare say maybe even better purely based on the actual amount of salmon there was on each. Salmonsashimi was also great. Great quality sashimi and generous portion. If this is their normal standard I will definitely be back, often! Read more
