We did take out and were very pleased. Pulled pork and brisket with a side of cole slaw. The most favorite of all, though, was... the cornbread. We ordered two pieces per person and not a crumb left. The woman behind the corner was delightful. Gracious andfriendly with great suggestions of what we might like best. Read more

Why is this place a 4.2? Best bbq I've tried! And that's saying something as I've tried a lot! Delicious soft, tender brisket (... number one seller)with the flavoring of the coals and baked beans ( same hickory flavor) were outstanding but prefer themslightly more thick. French fries was the only disappointment as they weren't fresh. Fresh baked goods available. 26 cents isthe charge for cups Paying with cash gives slight discount. $20 for one meal so on the expensive side but definitely worthit! Popular around lunch time! About what you?d expect from BBQ. Random stop along our way. The rib sandwich was very good. The roll def overpowers the meat... proportionally. Fast turnaround. No wait. *4 stars means better than average. 5 should be exceptional IMO. Read more

I will keep you posted!! I looked up best BBQ in the area on our way to Salisbury. HOT OFF THE COALS is what came up. Their... reviews are amazing and the menu sounds absolutely delicious! So I checked their website and I called to make sure they wereopen and their message didn't say anything just that they were helping a customer or something like that. So we made sure weleft Salisbury so we would have plenty of time before they closed. So we arrived only to find a note on the door that said theywould reopen the next day! So we still have to make the 1hr & 1/2 drive again and we will let you know how everything was!!Their menu looks amazing! Read more

Our 1st time here..it was ok. Nothing to write home about, as my Dad would say! We split the 2 meat platter and added brisket... on because they won't let you chose brisket as a meat to the 2 or 3 meat platter. (There was nothing indicating that after wehad spent 5 minutes deciding, had to re decide) The turkey was delicious, brisket pretty dry, green bean tasted and looked asif they were out of a can, collard were delicious. Decide for yourself. There are better places for certain. Read more

This was our second visit to Hot Off the Coals BBQ. You order at a counter and they bring the food to your table - indoor and... outdoor seating. Staff was happy and helpful navigating the extensive menu. We ordered the Brisket plate and a pulled porksandwich. Get the Boardwalk Fries (to dip into their home-made Tiger Sauce) ... delish! The Brisket was lean and tender but alittle dry. A quick request for some au jus fixed it. The pulled pork sandwich (4 or 6oz) was filled to the edge with tenderpork sauced with their "sweet" bbq sauce. The other choice was Carolina style sauce - but it's Western Carolina - thick andsweet. .b Read more

Ribs were ok, mac and cheese had no flavor. I wouldn't complain about the price if it was a wow food experience. Also the... service was okay, your cashier and your server are who represent you. If they have no interest on helping you, give you entreesuggestions and making a good impression also thanking you for your business, then people will just come try this place once andnever want to come back.
