Reviews for Mr. Chu in East Hanover, NJ
I used to come this restaurant with my family very often about 17 years ago, before we moved out to another state, because of... their great food and their excellent customers services. Unfortunately, myself and my family had a terrible experience yesterdaywith the waitress and the manager and we had to leave the place without having our dinner. They were very rude, mean andunprofessional. I don?t think that I will consider this place unless they change their inappropriate behavior and arrogantattitude. Read more
Went for dinner with family of 4 and we all were completely underwhelmed. The atmosphere has seen better days, the service is... rushed, and the food is bland. I could forgive the hair clips on the window curtains and the taper together chairs, if the foodwas great. But it's not. Even the rice was disappointing. Read more
I like this place... my wife loves it. We eat here everytime we drive past Morristown area. Staff is very nice but this... place gets crowded so they are very busy. Read more
PROS: This place has very nice food and the atmosphere is nicely elegant. Good amount of parking and the prices for the food are... just right. Menu has strong variety as well CONS: The waitress seemed a bit snippy towards us and the food took forever toleave. The bathrooms are also one person bathrooms which causes a back up. They also don't have a website for you to see theirmenu. OVERALL: i would come here again, their food is really good, but I would just keep my head down when it comes to the waitstaff Read more
This place has been around since the 1980's and is showing a little wear both outside and in. Service and food is good and... consistent. Hot dishes are not as spicy as one would expect, so if you like things hot ask for extra heat. This time, I thoughtthe free fried wontons were a little stale, my butter knife was so old it had a hole, the outside road sign is noticably rusty, and some bench seat cushions are cracked hence my lower rating. I love this place and would hate to see it go, but some updatesare needed. Read more
3 dishes + soup for $25 is a great deal. The soup was a house soup. The tofu with shredded pork and sauteed string beans were... very tasty, but the eggplant with basil was a bit oily. Looking forward to trying other dishes. Read more
Food is decent but service is not up to the mark. Forgot our orders and not friendly. Also like other comments, we asked for... extra spicy but still dish was more on the sweet side than spicy. Outside def needs a upgrade too. Would recommend only if therewas no other place serving the same type of dishes within a 30 mile radius :) Read more
After so many years, my family and I were back in town to have dinner at one of our favorite hometown restaurants. It's... unfortunate to see the change in management and staff and how unwelcoming our brief visit was. As my family and I entered therestaurant at 8pm (per Google, closes at 9pm), we were immediately told that they close at 8:30pm and to eat fast or leave.Since we knew exactly what menu items we loved at this restaurant, we agreed to be seated for a quick dinner. The waitresspassed out menus and my father mentioned how we used to come weekly almost 18 years ago. Rudely, the waitress replied "I wasn'there that long ago, I would not remember you." Okay fine...but then we placed our order requests and the waitress said theycouldn't make some of our orders due to time. We stated that it's okay if they take their time, we would quickly finish our mealto allow the staff to close up for the night before 8:30pm. The manager came to our table and harshly roared, "I don't care ifyou don't care, we care and we will not be making your food". Essentially, we were shewed and refused of service due to thestaff's dictated timing and convenience, despite restaurant hours. It's a shame because we held so many pleasant memories withoutstanding food throughout my childhood, and due to this distasteful experience, my family and I will not be returning. Read more
