Stopped here after a visit to the Gardens Aglow at Maine Botanical Gardens. Really didn?t know what to expect but we were happy... with the experience. Servers were attentive, and we were seated quickly. We ordered wings for an appetizer and we all enjoyedthem. For entrees we got the bolognese, chicken & dumplings and the swordfish special. All three were very good and wellpresented. We would return. Read more

We asked around at our hotel and several people suggested the Carriage House. We called and made reservations for 7:30 and we... were told to come at 7:45. We promptly walked in at 7:43 and waited only a couple of minutes. We were seated next to a couple ofpeople from Arizona and had a good conversation with them while waiting for our server. The kitchen was busy as was the staff. It did take a while before we got waters and drinks. It took a little while to get our server introduced to us also. Our serverwas Amelia, an Irish woman with a delightful accent. She took our order and whisked away. While we were waiting for our dinnersthe couple next to us got served, unfortunately the order was wrong, the couple had ordered a hamburger and instead got thehanger steak entree. After chatting with the server she returned their hanger steak. 20 minutes later our order showed up and mywife's scampi looked great as did my hanger steak. Except the steak was cold. The potatoes and green beans were warm, so myserver was horrified and took the plate back to the kitchen, when it was returned I now had a medium well hanger steak insteadof medium rare. Not really a huge issue but disappointed to say the least. It was a little bit chewy. My server wanted to sendit back but my wife was almost done eating and it was getting late. To make up for the steak I thought we would try the cremebrulee. It was just OK. All in all I am not sure we would eat here again based on the price and experience. I am pretty surethe hanger steak i was served was the same steak served to the couple next to us. Our server did try to remove the entree, butmysteriously the owner or management was no longer around. However Amelia was a treat and made our experience worth having. Read more

Went here for dinner outside on lawn, the place was cute and quaint. Service was friendly but staff forgot utensils twice once... for soup and again for entree. Ordered haddock chowder and it was great. I ordered the lobster roll special which was also good, wish it was seasoned better. Husband and parents ordered haddock sandwich and fish & chips both said haddock was plain, unseasoned and nothing special to write home about. Atmosphere outside was great with lights and picnic tables and they alloweddogs. Read more

This was a nice restaurant in East Boothbay but was not totally impressed with the service they provided. We called ahead for... reservations and when we got there they told us we had to sit outside that inside was already reserved but most the insidetables were empty. They did finally get us a table inside on the upper level. I ordered a lobster roll sandwich which was $29and the bottom of the bun was lined with lettuce which made it appear to have more lobster meat then it had. My wife got thehaddock meal which was very good. When we left the downstairs tables were still empty. They could have asked if we wanted insideor outside seating when we called and I think it's deceiving to put lettuce on the bottom of the bun especially when I had manylobster rolls at other restaurants in the area that had more lobster meat for the same price or lower and no lettuce. We all agreed this was our favorite restaurant on our tour of the Northeast (Maine, Massachusetts, and DC). We loved the food!... Our waitress was very sweet. We got crab cakes as an appetizer with ribs and steak as the main dishes. All of the food wasexcellent. The steak was cooked perfectly. The rib meat was falling off the bone. It was perfect!! Thanks, Carriage House, for awonderful meal!! Read more
