Reviews for Da J3rk Spot in Eagle River, AK
I would like to preface this review with the caveat that I am a total weenie when it comes to anything remotely "spicy". I'm... talking "Can't handle Tacobell's Jalapeno Sauce or anything else spicy" Spicy. Literally the only place that I have ever hadfood that is Spiced yet I can somehow handle it and it tastes amazing. That's how flavorful their food is! Usually I only evertaste pain and suffering if I try a bite but not with Da J3rk Spot! The Mac and Cheese has just the right amount of zing to warmyou up but doesn't overstay and become overwhelming. And it made great leftovers. The chicken is of course delicious and myfavorite sauce so far is the Mango. Can't wait to try more in the future especially the oxtail. 10/10 Recommended from asensitive and picky eater. Read more
This place is a hidden gem! I did not expect to find such an authentic Carribbean spot in Eagle River. The menu has several... things I'd want to keep coming back for. The curry shrimp was excellent with a good amount of heat, and it tasted just like home(I'm Carribean). The jerk chicken taco was amazing! 10/10 on that smoky jerk flavor and this is a very approachable dish forsomebody not familiar with Caribbean cuisine. You'll get that same great flavor from ordering the whole wings. The plantains, cabbage, and rice were all perfect -- not just complimentary sides, but enhancing the meal. They have an interesting variety ofjerk sauces.; they were out of original when I visited, but spicy honey and mango were enjoyable. Beef patty was flaky, a littlespicy, and also gets the island stamp of approval. Portions were large; 2 wings = 2 legs and 2 wings. Do me a favor locals, andkeep Da J3rk Spot in business!! Read more

Definitely the best Caribbean food I've had. It's a small restaurant, but clean and comfortable. Nice art from the Accidental... Artisan too. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to energize their taste buds. Read more
Never open during posted hours and constantly complain of being short staffed as the reason they are short/rude, yet don?t seem... to realize that they will not be able to hire people if they are never open when they are supposed to be. When they go onvacation they close, when they?re stressed (according to Facebook posts on the business page that you have to monitor for hoursand menu) they close, etc. and their menu is inconsistent. They say the Mac is one of their most ordered items yet they randomlydecide it takes too much effort to make and remove it from the menu as they wish. I stopped going here because I could neverrely on them to be open or have what I want. Why not just be a pop up food truck? How can a restaurant stay afloat this way?? Ofcourse you?re short staffed, you probably are only open enough to pay for ingredients. The food is decent when it?s available. And they argue with people that leave negative reviews. Be open during posted business hours, have a consistent menu, and workon your customer service and this would be a 3.5-4.0 star restaurant, but as it is it just doesn?t make sense to even be a brickand mortar business.
