Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was wonderful, very friendly staff, and the bar mixed me a delicious mocktail... off-menu. Our server answered all of our questions about the menu patiently. Everything was cooked perfectly to order. We hadreservations but showed up early and were seated right away. We will definitely be coming back! Read more

Rue Cler never disappoints. Visited a couple of nights ago with five of our friends. Got a table in the private room (which,... from what I understand, is getting ready to be transformed into a less formal space for drop in drinking and dining). The hostwas very nice. Our waiter was on point all night long. We ate and drank a lot. The bottles of burgundy were excellent! Mypre-dinner cocktail was delicious! Cheese board was great. Charcuterie tray was great. The baguette from a local bakery,Loaf, was perfect. Everybody else had the snails --- I passed --- but they went on about how yummy they were. Everybody reallyenjoyed the entrees -- steak, rabbit tagine, coq au vin... even the veg entree was really delicious. Shared a couple ofdesserts that got gobbled up quickly. Read more

We had a lovely dinner at Rue Cler! Friendly/attentive service, great food. I enjoyed everything I ate, but particularly like my... husband's foie gras and steak frites! Excellent ambience. We will definitely return and next time I'll save room for dessert. Read more

A true gem of Durham?this place was amazing! We had the escargot, the fois gras, the salmon, and the snapper dishes and they... were all excellent! Not to mention the server, Tony, was very helpful with pairings/suggestions, kind, and just wonderful tochat with. Oh! And we had a peach dessert which was also very very good! Keep up the fantastic work, folks! We had only beenhere years ago for the brunch but decided to try out the dinner and oh man were we not disappointed. What?s strange is that it?snot even that crowded inside so, until the word gets out, you should be able to get a table no problem - which is hard to do indowntown Durham today. Read more

Rue has always been a favorite of mine. The bartender made a cucumber gin fizz and it was outstanding. Full of fresh flavors and... an amazing texture. Read more

This is a hidden gem. It's a small restaurant with a few tables but don't let that fool you. The food is outstanding. Foie Gras... was better than I've had in France. Cocktails were delicious. NY Strip was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Escargot was in amushroom butter that we couldn't stop dipping our baguette into! Creme brulee was fluffy like a cloud and unbelievably tasty! Read more

Very sub-par experience. We had a reservation and there was only one other couple dining when we arrive yet they tried to seat... us directly next to that couple instead of at any of the other tables. For a place that requires checking your covid vaccinecards, why wouldn?t you also social distance as much as possible? The service seemed like they were lost in the clouds and notvery attentive at all despite there only being two tables dining in the restaurant. The bread for the table was terrible, itdidn?t have a good flavor and was very hard textured making it difficult to eat. You?d think a french place would have a handleon how to make a good bread. The steak frites was kind of tough and didn?t have the most flavor, it was just okay. The salmondish was not good flavor at all. The salmon was cooked well but the greens and potatoes were not and had a gross flavor. Thebest thing we had was the short rib gnocchi. Read more
