Truly excellent home cooked meals! They had some of the best pancakes that I've had in YEARS. I ordered a custom omelet that... came out perfectly, and my husband had the buttermilk pancakes with eggs and biscuits. Delish! The wait was a bit long, but theywere super busy. I think an 18% tip on 6 (4 being kids) is not only excessive BUT a poor way to get out of actually DOING your job. At 18% I'd... assume with as FEW people that needed to be waited on our drinks would have never been empty and someone else wouldn't have tobring food or ask if they can help because our waitress is too busy to earn the tip. Now, that's why I didn't rank it 5stars... however we went JUST for the banana pepper appetizers, so if you can get a better waitress then the 4pm Friday staff,then you should be good to go. B+ | Nice community diner that has much history and good calibre food. Outside seating wasn't available , even due to the... pandemic and we could tell chicken was going to be a mission for the staff with an hour left before closing. The steak and eggswas great as a breakfast and the hotcakes (pancakes) were more on the fluffy side. Objectively this is a cool staple for thiscommunity and gives a decent experience. Read more
I wanted to take my father out for lunch today (11/26/22) and we decided to go to Hope Valley Dinner. We waited so long and had... to sit ourselves because the host was not in sight. It wasn't busy today so I wasn't sure what was going on. As we waited forour server to come, 2 white couples came in after us and were immediately seated and waited on. I had to flag the host to askher for a menu and place drink orders. We continued to wait for the host or waiter to take our orders but the host refused, andsnobbishly she said it wasn't her job. However, our waiter never came to our table, I had to put my order in at the bar. Meanwhile the couples that came in after us, were being served continuously, as we were overlooked. The waitress literallyskipped us and never came to our table to serve us. Another white couple came in and they were again seated and waited on,meanwhile we haven't even gotten water yet. I am so disappointed in the service from this place. My family and I frequentedthis establishment a lot over the past few years but something has definitely changed. I am disappointed, and unfortunately,I've heard other friends and family mention a similar experience. We eventually had to leave because of poor service, not havinga waiter and being blatantly overlooked. The only conclusion for the poor service must've been because we are black.
