A small local cafe with adequate variety of food & beverages. Stopped by twice at Oscar?s Cafe during the trip in July - once... for lunch to dine in and next morning for breakfast takeout. Service - 5 stars Food Variety - 5 stars Taste & portion - 5stars Value for money - 5 stars Waiting time - 5 stars Ambience - 4 stars - definitely a busy place and it may not be veryconvenient to dine in if you have toddlers / you did stop by during busy hours. We got there during off hours (about an hourbefore closing time) for lunch, so we didn?t have to wait longer to be seated. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the scenic view.Looked very busy in the morning next day. People were waiting in a long queue to order food / dine in. However, since we hadpreordered the breakfast for take out, it was quick as a wink. Grabbed the food and went to Rossa park which was in about twominutes driving distance from Oscar?s cafe. If you don?t mind enjoying your breakfast in a park and want to save some time fromwaiting in the queue, you may opt for a take out. All in all, it was a nice experience. Food was filling and each order camewith a side. So, make sure you consider the portion before ordering multiple menu items. Read more

How do I explain my experience at Oscar?s? well, you know those places where all the locals go? the hidden gems? That?s Oscar?s!... I also had the pleasure of talking with the owner. He stayed engaged in the conversation while he lent a hand to others andhelped prepare for next rush. I learned that Oscar?s had been there for thirty nine years. The gentleman I was speaking with, wasn?t the original owner. However, come to find out, researched from the current owner, there never was an Oscar. That?s when a?regular? pleasantly suggested that it had been a Chinese restaurant before and that it might?ve been a commonly used Englishname to help with pronunciation of a difficult Chinese name. I use ?regular? but out of the utmost respect, this delightfulperson was a wellspring of Durango history. She suggested places to go, things to do, and shared her twenty nine years ofDurango history. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Oscar?s? and that?s only the hospitality and service. The food was justas enjoyable! I had the Rueben and fries suggested by one of the friendly staff. I consider myself a Rueben connoisseur andOscar?s ranked in the top 10. Thank you, Oscar?s and staff! You left an impression and, Olivia, God bless you and thank you forsharing! Read more

Frustrating experience. They're clearly very popular, and even though we used the remote check in option and arrived on time, we... had to wait an additional 40 minutes. The poor souls seated outside were treated to dozens of people milling around them, staring at their food, and attempting to make unwelcome conversation. When we were finally seated, we were LITERALLY seated infront of the restrooms in a table that never should have existed (see the photo). There was 1.5 feet of space to pass throughbetween our table to the wall, and our entire meal was accompanied by people standing by our table, commenting on our food, andbumping our plates. One person, while waiting to use the bathroom, actually asked us what we did to earn such a bad table.Toilet flushes, toilet smells, toilet noises, all throughout our meal. Why didn't I complain? Because my family would be backout in the rain waiting for another table, and some other family would be stuck at this miserable table. And it would only hurtthe servers, who aren't the ones who decided to put a table here. No quality of food would make up for the lousy experience. That being said, the food was FINE. I've eaten at hundreds of popular diners over my life and the food was as good as any. Butnothing truly exceptional. I got the verde plate, with 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns, green chili sauce, and a tortilla on theside. They smothered it, which made the hashbrowns soggy. The green chili sauce was quite good, and could hold its own as astew. The tortilla was ok, but probably not homemade. The kids' pancakes were fluffy and unremarkable. Bottom line, managementhas a serious issue with experience. Our table shouldn't exist, the outside tables shouldn't exist, and the way they managetheir wait-list is truly broken. The food is passable. The decor, while cute, looks like 1000 other diners out there and wasinvisible from our toilet-centric vantage point. Vote with your feet and pick a more accessible spot. Unbelievably good in every way. Seven of us had lunch here, and everyone of us thought it was amazing. They are very friendly,... and the food was perfect. For instance, most of the time when you order an omelette with lots of stuff inside, each bite mightinclude only one or two of the items? But here every single bite included every single taste/item that I ordered in theomelette. They took great care to chop it all up and distribute it perfectly. The pies are amazing. Waitresses were veryfriendly and attentive. We?re only here nine days, but will be back for more! Read more
