Reviews for Howard's Que in Duluth, MN

This place is wonderfully weird. Howard?s Que appears to be run by African-Americans and serves kick-behind BBQ and sides. It is... located in the back of a Legion hall. The front of the hall has a square bar and is filled with folks who looked like theyrolled in from a Trump rally. Yet, it all somehow seems to work. Folks from the front get BBQ from the back and folks eating BBQget their drinks up front. I don?t know how things actually work, but as I happily plowed through the good food and sipped somenifty local beer I had this hopeful thought that maybe this place was a model for how disparate parts of our society can prospertogether. Blame the beer or the BBQ or both for such optimism. Read more

OMG best BBQ in Duluth and prices are better than anyone in the Lincoln Park neighborhood!! This place is inside the local club... with very reasonably priced adult beverages. The fun staff and juke box makes for great atmosphere. We were large, multi-agegroup, and staff were so helpful. In addition to ribs, we loved jerk chicken sandwich (oh the sauce is worth the trip), and Mac& Cheese and corn bread got rave reviews. Several big tables available. Easily accessible entrance for anyone w wheels, walkers or canes. Recommend making reservations if more than 8 people or order ahead. Read more

yum! i'm from texas so i realllly craved a southern meal so i got the fried chicken, mac & cheese with a side of cornbread. I... was expecting a tiny piece of cornbread and they gave me this HUGE rectangle hahaha. It was very very sweet because of the honeyso it pairs well with the mac & cheese or chicken. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, SUPER hot when i got it so i know fora fact it's made fresh. I ended up burning my tongue lol. The mac and cheese was also so so good. Thanks for giving this texasgirl a warm meal on a super cold day. :) ((there was way more chicken but i ate it hahahahaha)) Read more

Picked this place on a whim, we didn't know what to eat and saw this come up and thought "we could go for some tasty bbq". Boy... am I glad we stopped here, what a hidden gem. The food was fantastic. We ordered ribs, pulled pork and jerk chicken. All of itwas fantastic but that jerk chicken is next level. The mac and cheese side was also a table favorite. The staff was so friendlywe ended up chatting and hanging out for another half hour. This place will definitely be on our hit list everytime we visitDuluth. Read more

It's inside of the Legion and it is WORTH IT! We had the rib dinner, jerk chicken sandwich and pulled pork dinner. Sides where... cole slaw, fries and mac n cheese. We all cleaned our plates. Everything is made in house and smoked/cooked on site. Howard isan amazing soul. The Legion is nice to. Good selection of drinks, pool table, shuffle board and they have specials every nightof the week. 10/10 will be eating here everytime we are in Duluth. Read more

The food is outstanding. Some reviews say that this place doesn't really seem like a restaurant. They are correct. While the... atmosphere is a legion(Elks) and looks a little like a bar, the service and food where amazing. Everything is hand made andfresh. I had the ribs, and friends had jerk chicken and pulled pork. Everything was perfect. Would go again. Trust thatwhen you enter the Elk's you are in the right place. Read more
