We came here for the first time for my birthday. No parking lot so we parked in the nearby garage. The place was busy so we sat... and waited. The sushi was good. He loved the edamame as it was uniquely grilled and seasoned. The ramen was an extra $1 forspicy. It was also different from other ramen places. Not bad, but not a flavor I'd likely crave. The ice cream for my bday wasa pleasant treat. Read more

This is one of the absolute BEST sushi places you'll ever find. We discovered it during covid in 2020 - ate there twice during... that trip, when they had outdoor dining - and just this past weekend, drove 2+ hours to enjoy it again. The jalapeno margaritawas delish and refreshing - and EVERYTHING was heavenly!! Treat yourself and go!! Read more

Stopped here on a whim on the way home. Staff was friendly and our server was quick and friendly. The restaurant itself was busy... and lively with loud-ish music. Food was so good! The Grilled Edamame was excellent and the California Roll was one of the bestI've had. Miso soup was excellent and the portions of the dinner entree's we're quite large. They have an extensive Sake menuwhich was divided by flavor profile which was really helpful. I highly recommend the G20, it was fruity but not cloying andsmooth. Highly recommend this place, will definitely be back! Read more

I?m heard rave reviews about Amakara from many people. Decided to try it out and I was underwhelmed. Located on the corner of a... busy street Amakara is this huge sushi restaurant with very underwhelming decorations. Our service was slow and took a whilefor our food to come out. We ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and the Klondike roll. The spicy tuna was my favorite as ithad a special sauce that came with it and asparagus inside of the roll. All in all, it was okay. There are far better Japaneserestaurants for half the cost in the city. Read more

I was told that it is the best sushi ever, but I have found less fancy places that have much better food and it is less... expensive. Amakara is on a busy street, most probably with a huge lease, which we pay for. I believe if they can have a betterand less expensive location, they can pass the savings on to their customers. I know that there are really expensive locationsfor some fancy restaurants, but the quality and design of their food matches their location. I don't feel like it was the samein this case. Plus their service was mediocre for the amount they charged... Read more
