Pretty neat bakery. Beautiful curb appeal, nice interior and very clean bathroom. Lots of different sweets to choose from here.... Or if sweets aren't your thing, there are loaves of bread to choose from. My biggest negative was that I couldn't get anythinghere since I'm vegan and not one item doesn't have animals in them. But if you're vegetarian, you're good. I hope they add someitems that are vegan, since it's quite easy to create vegan baked goods now. 3/5. Read more
Happened upon Union Block Bakery during a greenhouse tour in the area. I?m very upset with myself that I didn?t know about this... sooner! There is a variety of baked goods available that all looked so good and all reasonably priced. Too bad I could only tryso many on this visit. They also all taste great! While I don't normally write reviews, I had such an awkward and discouraging time here that I had to write something. And I... can't be the only one. While their food & drink is great, and the girl serving us was lovely, I was immediately met withhostility the moment I walked in the door. This business still forces their customers to wear masks, even without a federal orprovincial mandate in place. I understand it's a business' right to make a request of its customers, but I was literally yelledat to wear one the MOMENT I walked inside. Not cool, guys! I kindly told them that I have an exemption and they were still veryrude to me. I told them I would be happy to pay them my money for their delicious beverages & baked goods, and was able todiffuse the situation. As I ate my food at a table, for the next hour and a half I watched every single customer walk in and getyelled at as soon as they stepped inside, and I saw zero grace being shown to people who choose to not or cannot wear one. Idon't understand how as a business they can keep up with this severity of treatment. It is not a good feeling to be yelled atthe moment I walk into a coffee shop, and I will not be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon. If you want people towear a mask, that's fine, you can ask them to, but ultimately you have to leave it up to them and treat them with respect andkindness - not yell at them the moment they walk in your store.
