The area was quiet and my wife and I loved that. Unfortunately there were a couple of things that bothered us. Firstly, our king... suite didn?t have a microwave .. we asked the cleaning crew but they didn?t have answers. After 3 days, we finally called theservice desk, they said that king suites don?t have them but ?we?ll have one delivered to you?. It clearly states that one ofthe amenities is a microwave. Secondly, there was a issue with the water, a worker knocked and said we wouldn?t have water butdidn?t give an approximate time when we would. We didn?t have hot water for 2 days. Thirdly, the bed was horrible, the springsin the bed are so prominent. I was in pain every single night. I just feel like the stay wasn?t worth what we spent. It wasquiet, but the overall stay wasn?t worth it. Read more

The nice thing about the Dunes, unlike other gay resorts, is that you will fell welcomed no matter what level of participation... you enjoy in the activities. There's both a party and relaxation to be had. The rooms vary from luxury cabins with hot tubs tofully equipped hotel rooms to bare bones dorm style rooms (offered in season on the weekends). The staff is friendly andefficient and the housekeeping staff is awesome. I didn't meet the owners but the staff speaks well of them, which tellsvolumes. I'll be back! Read more

Just ok. I wanted to rate our visit higher, plenty of pros, but also a few cons. I simply wouldn't call this place a resort.... There's a connotation that goes along with the word "resort", and we didn't experience that level of service or vacationexperience. The pool area and bar, cabaret facilities are great. We saw the cabaret show both nights, Big Red was amazing. Andthe cabaret show was free, so hard to complain. But the second night there was a bridal shower and many partiers in the back ofthe room. It was so loud, we struggled to hear. Big Red called them out twice to quiet down. I would think an employee, bouncer, someone on staff would be controlling that. Our room. It was a king bed suite overlooking the pool. The room decor is sparse anddated. I think in both rooms and bathroom there's 1 piece of art on the walls. A wicker patio set was the table in our livingroom. No curtains, just blinds. Both tvs were very small. The towels (2 of them) were very coarse, as I saw another reviewerpost. After both towels were used and wet, I tried to get more but there's no phone to call to speak with anyone and my walk tothe front desk was met with a closed office. We used our beach towels to dry off until the next day when I found the cleaningwoman (who was very nice). Our shower rod fell once, I put it back up. It just felt like a motel stay. Very basic. Nofrills. And no crowds. Our stay was in the middle of summer, Thurs through Sunday. Both sunny, hot days at the pool saw no morethan 20 to 30 people at the pool with maybe 3 people swimming at any time. I'm sure they have special events and holidays thatdraw people, but the bar was sparse, very few people, yet there's a beautiful indoor and outdoor club/bar space. Don't comehoping to be surrounded by a lot of people. The pictures make you think of a packed resort with themes, lots of guys, events, and fun. A destination. We enjoyed touring the towns...but our stay was just ok. It should have been a sign when Read more

This was our first visit and we were very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and guests. Patrick at the reception desk... was helpful and professional. Our King room was very clean, comfortable and modern. We normally don't stay at Gay Resorts butafter having vacationed in Douglas/Saugatuck for well over a decade we finally gave it a try and are glad we did. Plenty of funevents and a nice pool and bars. We gave them the highest compliment by extending our stay. Well done Dunes! Read more

The staff is always happy and eager to make your stay memorable. The bartenders are amazing and fun and the housekeeping is... impeccable! We always stay in the king suites when we make the trip down and they are amazing with an awesome view of the pool Read more

I just wanted to say thanks to the Dunes for helping me once I arrived at the property and realized that I had booked the wrong... kind of accommodations. I was not going to be able to stay in the room that I had inadvertently booked (one of the 'Dunes' roomswith communal amenities), and on such short notice there was nothing else available for me, so I had to book a room at anotherhotel in town. The staff was incredibly kind and understanding and refunded my previous payment. We will be back - with acorrect booking. The property is lovely - and looked like a lot of fun with a large pool, dance club and bar. While it didn'twork out this time, we are looking forward to trying again. Read more

We had a fantastic trip at the dunes. The service was on point - and this is coming from a crew that has worked in service for a... long time. Housekeeping was friendly and attentive, bar service and staff were chipper and clean. Overall very impressed bymanagement and all that work together to make this place run as smoothly as it does. Huge thanks from hubby and I :-) Read more

So this is not just a hotel and this review is NOT for the actual lodgings. This is basically a gay club/event venue with three... bars, indoor and outdoor space, two dance floors, ample seating, caberet/stage room, and a billiards lounge. I went on aSaturday night and it was a $10 cover charge, not bad at all for a club this size. The place was packed full of cute guys by11PM. There wasn't a live DJ while I was there which was a bit odd but maybe it was still early. There were guys in leather andother gear so feel free to dress the part. The drinks were cheap though same as most clubs a bit watery, but is what it is. Ipaid $8 for a vodka cran, fair price compared to what I'm used to. Parking can get really tricky as it heats up.
