The room was nice and clean but our experience was a bit disappointing. We arrived on a Monday and left on Thursday. Beside our... check in we didn?t see one employee until Wednesday evening when the restaurant opened at 5pm. There were a few times I wouldhave liked to sit in front of the fire in the living room but there was no one around. On Wednesday we asked and was told theywould start the fire but no one came to take care of that. We did enjoy the breakfast at their sister facility, Dorset Inn. TheDorset Inn had the feel of being opened, comfortable and welcoming. The Barrows House felt closed, cold and not so comforting. We had dinner Wednesday evening at Barrows. It was a little unorganized but the manager was working hard to accommodate us aswe didn?t expect to sit in the pub for our dinner. We had made the reservation 10 days prior. Our Dinner at the Dorset Inn wasbetter. Next time I would stay at the Dorset Inn. Perhaps our experience would have been better if we arrived on a Wednesdayor later on the week. Read more

I stayed here for my best friend's wedding. She had her rehearsal dinner and after party here as well. The staff was very... attentive and friendly. They helped immediately when I asked and never made me feel like a burden. The food was amazing and thebartender made some great drinks. The room itself was expensive, but it was worth the breakfast and atmosphere. I great place tosplurge for an event. I would love to visit again. Read more

My wife and I had dinner with two friends in the dining room. Two of us ordered the $58 strip steak. My wife had the prime rib.... In one of word...TERRIBLE. The strip steak was mostly fat and grizzle....and looked nothing like a strip steak. The prime ribwas thin enough for sandwich meat. I complained to waitress and got "I'm sorry" and no more. Ugh! The Barrows House Inn has been a family favorite for many years, but especially during the height of the fall foliage. The... suites we stayed in were relaxing, clean, and spacious. On the first day, we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail out on the lawnbefore heading over to the Dorsett Inn restaurant (common ownership) for a delightful dinner. The following day, we walkedaround Dorsett enjoying the colorful mountain views and went shopping in Manchester. If you're into fishing, don't miss theOrvis flagship store there. We highly recommend the Barrows House Inn for a relaxing get away! Read more

Very nice atmosphere, excellent food, terrible staffing. We had the mushroom and caprese flatbreads which were delicious. The... tuna nachos were a good appetizer as well. We finished our meal with two desserts which were served in cute buckets withshovels. The tables were candle lit and the mood was very romantic so we had a lovely time. The only downside was that thewaiters took thirty minutes before you ever saw them again, perhaps they're short staffed. We asked for water after we ran out,the waiter said he would be right back with some. Fifteen minutes later my wife started coughing and finally I got the bus boywho gladly got a jug of water which took 30 seconds for him to reach. Budget a lot of time when you come and overall you willleave full and happy. Read more
